Meta announced on Sunday the launch of a new video editing app called Edits, following the removal of ByteDance’s editing app, CapCut, from Apple’s App Store and Google Play Store due to the TikTok ban. While TikTok is being restored temporarily in some cases, Meta has introduced Edits as a new tool for video creators.

Key Features of Edits

Edits is a free video editing app with a range of tools for creating professional-looking videos. Here’s what you can do with it:

  • No Watermark: Export your videos without a watermark, ready to share on any platform.
  • Organized Workflow: Keep all your drafts and finished videos in one place for easy management.
  • High-Quality Clips: Record videos up to 10 minutes long with high resolution and start editing immediately.
  • Easy Sharing: Share videos directly to Instagram in 1080p quality.

Advanced Editing Tools

Edits includes powerful tools to help you fine-tune your videos:

  • Camera Controls: Customize resolution, framerate (the number of frames per second in a video), and dynamic range for better quality.
  • Enhanced Features: Use improved flash and zoom controls to get the perfect shot.
  • AI-Powered Tools: Animate images, replace backgrounds with a green screen, or add video overlays.
  • Creative Effects: Add fonts, sound effects, voice filters, video filters, stickers, and more.
  • Better Audio: Improve sound quality by enhancing voices and removing background noise.
  • Auto-Captions: Generate subtitles automatically and adjust how they look to match your style.

Insights for Creators

Edits also helps creators track the performance of their videos and plan future content:

  • Live Dashboard: See real-time insights about how your videos are performing.
  • Engagement Metrics: Get detailed data on views and interactions from followers and non-followers.
  • Reel Recommendations: Understand what factors, like skip rates, affect whether your videos are recommended to others.
  • Content Planning: Use insights to decide what works best for your audience and improve your future videos.

Availability

Edits is available for pre-order on the App Store starting today. Meta announced the app will launch on iOS in February, although the App Store pre-order page currently lists March as the release date.
