Hokkaido Obihiro 884, the beloved karaage specialist from Obihiro, Hokkaido, is making its Kanto debut with a limited-time shop at Lazona Kawasaki Plaza, opening Friday, October 9, 2026. Operated by Idling Co., Ltd., the new outpost marks the brand’s first location in the region and offers diners across the Tokyo metropolitan area their first taste of its distinctive fried chicken.

At the heart of the menu is the shop’s signature creation: chicken breast wrapped in a layer of chicken skin and shaped into a small, barrel-like morsel. The brand’s philosophy is summed up in a single line, that this is what emerged when it set out to perfect karaage. Each bite pairs the rich, savory depth of the skin with the clean, delicate flavor of the breast meat.

The seasoning departs from convention. Rather than relying on the usual garlic and ginger, the marinade draws on a Kansai-style dashi broth, lending a subtle, savory backbone. The chicken is first cooked gently at a low temperature, then fried at a high heat in a double-frying method that yields a shatteringly crisp exterior and a juicy interior.

Beyond the signature item, the shop will present a lineup of Obihiro favorites, including the Pari-Zaku Kawasen, so that Kanto diners can sample the specialties long cherished by customers in Hokkaido.

The Lazona Kawasaki Plaza shop will operate as a takeout-only counter from Friday, October 9, 2026, through Monday, April 12, 2027. It is located on the first floor of Mitsui Shopping Park Lazona Kawasaki Plaza, at 72-1 Horikawacho, Saiwai-ku, Kawasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. The shop is a five-minute walk from Kawasaki Station on the JR Keihin-Tohoku/Negishi Line and Tokaido Main Line, and a seven-minute walk from Keikyu Kawasaki Station on the Keikyu Main Line. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., subject to the mall’s operating schedule.
