In a notable development for breakfast aficionados in Huntington Beach, the latest Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, officially opened its doors at 7511 Edinger Ave. on December 6. This marks Snooze’s seventh California location, with established venues in Orange, Tustin, Laguna Niguel, and San Diego. Ahead of its grand opening, Snooze Huntington Beach kicked off a series of community soft openings named “Grow to Give,” aimed at collaborating with and fundraising for The Ecology Center, Orangewood Foundation, and the Snooze Compass Foundation, which extends emergency grants to Snooze team members.

Beyond the time-limited offerings, Snooze introduced a weekly feature, the Pancake of the Week, showcasing distinct pancake recipes inspired by Snoozers. Notably, starting in 2024, a portion of each Pancake of the Week sale, specifically $0.25, will contribute to supporting Snooze’s non-profit partners throughout the year.

Established in Denver, Colorado, in 2006 by two breakfast-loving brothers, Snooze distinguishes itself by crafting inventive breakfasts using responsibly sourced, fresh ingredients. The brand is dedicated to community and environmental betterment through thoughtful breakfast experiences, adherence to robust sustainability guidelines, and contributions to non-profits via annual events like Pancake Day and Bacon Day. Snooze consistently ranks in the top 10 for employee recommendations on Glassdoor for three consecutive years, highlighting its commitment to its team members, affectionately known as “Snoozers.”

The menu showcases Snooze’s iconic Pineapple Upside Down and Blueberry Danish Pancakes, imaginative Benedicts such as the Parmesan-Panko Crab Cake Benny, and inventive breakfast options like the Habanero Pork Belly Breakfast Fried Rice and Carbonara Breakfast Pasta. Customization options include the Signature Pancake Flight and the Benny Duo, allowing patrons to sample various offerings. The restaurant also caters to diverse dietary preferences with plant-based choices like Bravocado Toast and Adobo Roasted Veggie Breakfast Tacos, and an array of gluten-free-friendly options.

Emphasizing responsible ingredient sourcing, Snooze adheres to its Snooze Approved Food guidelines, ensuring the use of cage-free eggs, antibiotic and hormone-free meats, and products free from EDTA, synthetic dyes, carrageenan, and other specified ingredients.

Snooze’s full bar complements the dining experience with morning cocktails, local beers, spiked coffee beverages, and more. The drink selection ranges from signature Mimosas, like the Strawberry Martini Mimosa and Palomimosa, to spicy Bloody Marys and Boozy Blood Orange Punch. The beverage program also features a comprehensive coffee bar and an excellent selection of non-alcoholic options, including Suja Organic juices and mocktails like the Blackberry Mint Limeade.

The expansive 4,000-square-foot dining area at the new location accommodates 108 diners, with an additional 28 seats available on the outdoor patio. Having had the opportunity to preview the new establishment, sample the cuisine, and learn more about the restaurant, here are some insights from the Snooze team.

With a diverse menu offering customization options, what do you believe sets Snooze apart in terms of providing a unique and personalized dining experience for customers?

Snooze is a mission-driven breakfast brand doing “breakfast but different” with unique offerings and responsibly sourced fresh ingredients. In addition to its extensive menu of craveable breakfast and brunch items, Snooze offers various plant-based options including a Plant Power section on the menu with popular dishes such as the Bravocado Toast and the Bountiful Buddha Bowl. Snooze also offers most menu items (including pancakes) in gluten-free-friendly versions. There’s truly something for every palate!

Snooze takes pride in responsible ingredient sourcing. Could you elaborate on the Snooze Approved Food guidelines and how they contribute to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and sustainability?

Snooze is setting the standard for responsible ingredient sourcing with its Snooze Approved Food Guidelines, creating its own supply chain of ethical ingredients. Snooze Approved Food must pass a robust set of standards including animal welfare, social responsibility, avoiding  banned ingredients  and much more. Snooze-approved suppliers must also take a responsible stance on important global issues such as fair labor standards, business, ethics and integrity, climate change and toxins. As a result of these guidelines, Snooze is proud to serve cage-free eggs; Polidori Sausage; Tender Belly and Pederson’s Bacon; King Arthur Company Flour; The Real Dill Bloody Mary mix; La Bolsa Guatemalan Coffee, and real maple syrup from Vermont family farm, Slopeside Syrup; to name a few partner examples.

Can you share insights into the creative process behind developing Snooze’s signature dishes, such as the Pineapple upside-down and Blueberry Danish Pancakes?

Committed to doing “breakfast but different,” Snooze designed its signature dishes to be creative and innovative twists on traditional breakfast fare. Snooze fused breakfast classics like pancakes with mouthwatering flavors such as pineapple upside down cake and blueberry danish. The result was a delightful tropical pancake made with caramelized pineapple chunks, house-made vanilla crème and cinnamon butter as well as a fruity pancake topped with blueberry coulis, sweet cream and almond streusel surrounding a center of lemony cream cheese filling. Of course, Snooze also keeps breakfast classics on its menu (they’re classics for a reason!) but Snooze really always offers new riffs on old favorites.

The Signature Pancake Flight and Benny Duo options offer a chance for diners to explore multiple flavors. What was the inspiration behind introducing these sampler-style choices?

Snooze wanted to give guests plenty of opportunities to customize their plates and try all of Snooze’s creative flavor combinations. With the signature pancake flight and the benny duo, guests can make the most of their visit and sample the best of all worlds. The benny duo features two options from our menu of Benedicts, while the flight features a choice of three pancake flavors. Lots of guests enjoy ordering the pancake flight as a fun and shareable starter for the table!

The description of the Pumpkin Pecan Pie Pancakes on the Fall Menu is enticing, featuring a vanilla cream cheese filling, caramel sauce, sweet cream drizzle, and candied pecans. What inspired the creation of such seasonal delights, and could you elaborate on the process of curating limited-time offerings that encapsulate the spirit of the season?

Though the Pumpkin Pecan Pie Pancakes (and other fall menu items) are no longer available, Snooze works hard to curate delicious limited-time offerings throughout the year that are largely inspired by seasonal ingredients and fresh flavors. Like the rest of Snooze’s menu, the seasonal offerings are meant to provide guests with innovative twists on traditional breakfast and brunch fare.
