The Peninsula London invites guests to celebrate the Lunar New Year in style, offering a unique blend of traditional festivities and modern luxury in honor of the Year of the Snake. From Saturday 18th January to Saturday 8th February, the hotel presents a series of immersive experiences, including festive dining, cultural workshops, and exclusive events inspired by Asian heritage, all designed to offer a memorable start to the new year.

Exclusive Dining Experience at ‘Canton Red’
For the duration of the Lunar New Year celebrations, Canton Blue, The Peninsula London’s acclaimed Cantonese restaurant, will transform into ‘Canton Red.’ From 18th January to 8th February, the restaurant will embrace the significance of the color red in Chinese culture, symbolizing prosperity, good fortune, and vitality. The restaurant’s vibrant red floral decorations, Chinese lanterns, and red-adorned entrance create a festive atmosphere for an unforgettable dining experience.

The festive menu, featuring innovative twists on traditional Cantonese dishes, includes:

  • Starters: Golden fish dumpling with pumpkin seafood sauce, barbecued pork, prawn dumpling, and crispy chicken with savory shrimp paste.
  • Main Courses: Steamed fish with ginger, shiitake mushrooms, and soy sauce; deep-fried lobster with salted egg sauce; stir-fried Wagyu beef with wild mushrooms; and homemade spinach noodles.
  • Dessert: Chestnut cream and mandarin mousse, representing wealth and good fortune.

In addition, guests dining at Canton Red will receive a traditional red envelope. On 29th January, a Chinese calligrapher will also be available to write bespoke messages of prosperity for the upcoming year. The three-course set menu is available for £188 per person (exclusive of drinks) for both lunch and dinner sittings.

Chinese Tea Ceremony Masterclasses
From Saturday 25th January to Wednesday 5th February, The Peninsula London will host daily Chinese tea ceremony masterclasses at Canton Red’s Tea Lounge. These sessions, led by expert tea masters, will offer an introduction to the rich history and techniques of Chinese tea culture. Each class includes tastings of three premium teas, paired with light dim sum, pastries, and traditional sweets. With a limited capacity of eight participants per session, guests can book this intimate experience on SevenRooms.com for £48 per person.

Lunar New Year Dragon Dance at The Peninsula London
On Wednesday, 29th January, The Peninsula London will present a spectacular Dragon Dance performance in the hotel’s courtyard. This traditional performance, thought to bring good fortune and drive away negative energy, features colorful costumes and rhythmic drumming, adding excitement to the Lunar New Year festivities.
