A celebrated Los Angeles chef, known for blending Californian and Mexican culinary styles, is returning to his culinary roots with MXO—a contemporary Mexican Steakhouse in West Hollywood. Chef Wes Avila, a two-time James Beard Foundation Award Finalist, collaborates with restaurateur Giancarlo Pagani and sbe, a leading hospitality company, for this exciting venture.

Scheduled to open in Spring 2024 on La Cienega, MXO (Mexican Origins) takes inspiration from Chef Avila’s recent travels to Monterrey. This culinary gem is the latest addition from sbe Chairman and CEO Sam Nazarian’s Disruptive Restaurant Group, in partnership with HMFC Restaurant Group.

Chef Avila, celebrated for the success of Guerrilla Tacos, has crafted MXO as a nod to his roots and the vibrant culinary scene of Monterrey. The restaurant underwent a complete remodel, designed by celebrity designer Jae Omar.

This announcement follows sbe’s equity partnership with music icon Marc Anthony and substantial investments in Zouk LA, Casa Dani, and Katsuya Century City. Combined with HMFC Restaurant Group’s $12 Million investment in MXO, these initiatives contribute to an impressive $37 Million revitalization of Los Angeles.
