Highwood Retreat, a luxury camp nestled in the foothills of The Green Mountains in Southern Vermont, offers the ultimate private escape for its discerning guests. Its picturesque location, with snow-dusted landscapes and pristine wilderness, serves as the perfect backdrop for a winter adventure like no other.

The centerpiece of this thoughtfully designed retreat is a safari tent that artfully combines the opulence of a high-end hotel with the rugged charm of sleeping under canvas. Highwood Retreat has been carefully curated to surprise and delight its visitors, providing an intimate and enriching experience.

The tent features Brooklinen’s Luxe Sateen Sheets, an over-stuffed down comforter, soft quilts, and an electric mattress heater. Solar panels provide electricity, and outlets are conveniently situated throughout the tent for all charging needs. An electric kettle and a pour-over coffee carafe make morning coffee rituals a breeze, with freshly ground beans from local coffee roasters and a selection of teas. A cooler on the deck provides for cold beverages, and plush spa robes hang in the closet.

To keep the tent cozy, a wood-burning stove is complemented by an additional powerful propane space heater for colder months. Guests can enjoy a private stone fire pit for storytelling and marshmallow roasting, though it’s important to note that the camp does not have running water. The bathroom consists of a composting toilet and an off-grid sink, and guests have access to their own private outdoor cedar shower with hot water, towels, sandals, and robes. Additionally, guests will find 5 gallons of water for drinking, boiling, hand washing, and tooth brushing, accessed from glass dispensers in the bathroom and on the refreshments table in the tent. There are no cooking facilities, but guests are encouraged to bring prepared food or take-out from local restaurants, with a cooler on the deck and ice available for purchase.
