Floating elegantly at the F100 Dock of the California Yacht Club, a majestic 135 foot piece of history has been reborn as Marina del Rey’s newest crown jewel. The Northwind Experience now welcomes the public, claiming the unique title of the only upscale food and beverage destination situated entirely on the water within the largest recreational harbor in Southern California.

Stepping aboard the nearly century old vessel feels like stepping into a glamorous bygone era, yet the space is entirely tailored for modern hospitality. Guests can wander through intimate dining rooms and breezy open air decks featuring beautifully restored maritime elements, ambient custom lighting, and inviting fire features. Every vantage point on the ship offers breathtaking panoramic views of the harbor, seamlessly blending classic nautical heritage with the relaxed sophistication of the contemporary Southern California lifestyle.

At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Charles Voudouris, a culinary talent whose impressive resume spans leadership roles at the iconic Versace Mansion, Viceroy Anguilla, and Michael Mina Bourbon Steak, alongside training at globally revered establishments like Noma and Blue Hill at Stone Barns. His vibrant sea to table philosophy shines through a seasonal menu that highlights exceptional coastal ingredients, local sourcing, and true artisanal craftsmanship.

Dining on the Northwind is designed to foster connection. Whether enjoying weekend brunch or an evening under the stars, guests are encouraged to bond over beautifully crafted shareable plates, expertly curated boutique wines, and signature handcrafted cocktails.

The ship itself boasts a legacy of legendary entertaining. Originally commissioned in 1930, the Northwind has hosted an illustrious roster of twentieth century icons, international dignitaries, and tastemakers, including Sir Winston Churchill and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Today, that legacy of sophisticated celebration continues. Beyond standard dining, the Northwind Experience features a dynamic calendar of live entertainment, exclusive tasting events, and seasonal chef collaborations. The historic yacht also serves as a spectacular backdrop for private gatherings, offering full vessel buyouts for unforgettable weddings, brand activations, and film productions.
