Surrounded by fragrant pine forests and glistening mountain peaks, One&Only Moonlight Basin in Big Sky, Montana, marks the brand’s highly anticipated debut in the United States. Set to open on 18 November 2025, this new retreat—nestled within the exclusive Moonlight Basin community—is now accepting reservations. Offering a glimpse of what’s to come, the resort unveiled its One&Only Sky Lodge on 20 December 2024, setting the tone for an alpine experience unlike any other.

Tucked into over 240 private acres of the sprawling 8,000-acre Moonlight Basin property, and just a short drive from Yellowstone National Park, the resort is designed as a year-round sanctuary where adventure meets sophistication. Towering evergreens, snow-covered slopes, and vast skies provide the setting for an immersive wilderness escape that reflects the brand’s signature blend of refined luxury and natural connection.

“One&Only Moonlight Basin is an unexpected architectural marvel, deeply embedded in the American West,” says Philippe Zuber, CEO of Kerzner International. “Our first alpine resort offers unparalleled access to pristine ski terrain, hiking trails, and outdoor adventure, creating an extraordinary year-round destination for our guests.”

Helming the opening is Serge Ditesheim, the resort’s General Manager, who brings over 20 years of international hospitality experience. Ditesheim’s previous success with One&Only Mandarina in Mexico promises a seamless and elevated guest experience in Montana.

As a prelude to the full resort opening, the One&Only Sky Lodge is already welcoming guests and locals, showcasing the brand’s exceptional hospitality. The space features The Landing, a seasonal restaurant and bar concept serving locally sourced, seasonal cuisine. Accessible via the heated One&Only Gondola or by car, The Landing has quickly become a go-to gathering spot.

The Sky Lodge also includes a retail boutique and alpine equipment centre, offering everything from high-performance skis and snowboards to essential gear like gloves and goggles. Guests benefit from a complimentary ski valet, day lockers, and top-tier brands such as Atomic Skis and Salomon Sports. The on-site Wintersteiger Jupiter tune shop provides professional maintenance and upgrades for winter gear.

The new One&Only Gondola, just steps from The Landing, offers direct access to the Madison Base of Big Sky Resort. This area now features the Madison 8—a modern, eight-seat D-line chairlift that doubles the uphill capacity and reduces ride time, giving skiers and snowboarders seamless access to over 5,800 skiable acres.

In a noteworthy culinary collaboration, One&Only Moonlight Basin has partnered with Chef Akira Back, the acclaimed Korean-born, Aspen-raised former pro snowboarder turned global culinary innovator. Known for his bold approach to modern Japanese cuisine, Chef Back will open his first alpine restaurant at the resort next winter. This will be his 30th global location and the first in a mountain destination, bringing his adventurous palate and vibrant creativity to Montana’s highlands.

The resort will also feature six bars and restaurants, with diverse culinary experiences inspired by global and local influences.

Designed by internationally acclaimed architecture firm Olson Kundig, the resort blends effortlessly into its surroundings. Featuring guest rooms, suites, cabins, and a select number of One&Only Private Homes, the resort embraces the wild Montana landscape with natural materials, floor-to-ceiling windows, local art, and inviting textiles. These exclusive residences, also designed by Olson Kundig, offer a refined take on mountain living, complete with privileged access to the One&Only network worldwide. A limited number of homes remain available for purchase.

Located within a three-million-acre national forest, and just one hour from Yellowstone, One&Only Moonlight Basin offers an abundance of outdoor pursuits year-round. In the warmer months, guests can explore via hiking trails, mountain biking routes, fly fishing streams, and kayaking excursions—or tee off at the community’s championship golf course. In winter, snow sports take center stage, from alpine skiing and snowboarding to Nordic skiing and snowshoeing.
