FUJIFILM Corporation is set to launch the FUJIFILM X-M5 globally in mid-November 2024, introducing the latest addition to its X Series of mirrorless cameras. Designed with both performance and portability in mind, the X-M5 delivers outstanding image quality in a compact body, weighing just 355g—earning it the title of the lightest camera in the X Series.

Packed with innovative features, the X-M5 utilizes AI-powered subject detection autofocus (AF), making it effortless to track moving subjects like animals and cars. It also supports 6.2K/30P video recording, offering creators the tools they need for stunning photography and seamless video production.

The FUJIFILM X-M5 mirrorless camera is designed to appeal to a broad range of users, from beginners to seasoned photographers, thanks to its portability and advanced shooting functions. Its sleek and high-quality design, a hallmark of the Fujifilm X Series, makes it perfect for everyday use, expanding the joy of photography.

At its core, the X-M5 features a 26.1-megapixel back-illuminated X-Trans™ CMOS 4 sensor and the cutting-edge X-Processor 5, enabling high-resolution image capture and low power consumption. The top-mounted dials include a Film Simulation mode, allowing users to easily switch between 20 unique color tones for a variety of creative looks. The camera’s AUTO mode ensures even first-time users can achieve stunning, richly colored images with ease.

For video creators, the FUJIFILM X-M5 offers comprehensive video recording features, including powerful digital image stabilization, a built-in high-performance microphone, and in-camera SD card recording at 6.2K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit. Additionally, the new 9:16 Short Video Mode in Vlog Mode simplifies the creation of vertical videos, perfect for social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.

Despite its compact dimensions of 111.9mm width, 66.6mm height, and 38.0mm depth, the X-M5 mirrorless camera maintains the signature premium aesthetic of the X Series. Symmetrical dials on the top surface not only add to its visual appeal but also provide easy access to features like the Film Simulation dial, offering a wide range of color expressions tailored to any scene or subject.

The X-M5’s AI autofocus capabilities are further enhanced with face and eye detection, and its subject detection AF uses deep learning technology to identify and track a variety of objects, including animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, drones, and more. The advanced AF algorithm ensures precise tracking of moving subjects and delivers high-performance autofocus in low-contrast environments.

For videography enthusiasts, the X-M5 supports 6.2K/30P 4:2:2 10-bit video, as well as 4K/60P and 1080/240P slow-motion recording. The advanced digital image stabilization reduces camera shake during both handheld and walking shots.

The X-M5 is also the first FUJIFILM camera to feature three built-in microphones, offering four directional audio options: surround, front, back, or front & back. A new steady-state noise reduction function filters out constant background noise, improving audio clarity when recording in environments with persistent sounds, like air conditioners.

Vlog Mode has been further refined, making it easier to adjust shooting settings by simply tapping the LCD. The improved icon placement enhances usability, while the new 9:16 short movie mode simplifies the process of creating vertical videos for social media. The camera also supports new bit rates (8Mbps and 25Mbps) to speed up transfers to external devices like smartphones, enabling quick uploads to platforms like YouTube or Instagram.

To support long recording sessions in high-temperature environments, an attachable cooling fan can be easily mounted to the rear panel of the X-M5 without the need for a cable. The fan is powered directly by the camera, ensuring smooth, extended shooting performance for demanding videographers.
