The sixth edition of Tomorrowland Winter kicked off with exactly the kind of energy the People of Tomorrow had been waiting for. Nestled high in the French Alps at the breathtaking ski resort Espace Alpe d’Huez, the opening day delivered a spectacular collision of electronic music, mountain air, and pure festival magic.

As attendees settled into the charming village of Alpe d’Huez and its surrounding lodgings, the music was already calling. Several of the festival’s most iconic stages came alive from the jump, including the Cage, CORE, Reflection of Love, and Frozen Lotus. Exceptional artists wasted no time setting the tempo: Dyzen, French producer Michael Canitrot, House Delivery Records founder Tony Romera, and the electro house pairing of Laidback Luke b2b Belgian star Yves V were among those who delivered electrifying sets that made clear just how special the week ahead would be.

The single biggest moment of the day came with the grand unveiling of the Orbyz stage, perched at a staggering altitude of 2,100 metres. Where the legendary Amare stage once dominated, a Snow Lion and his icy realm now reign supreme. French phenomenon Charles B opened proceedings on the new stage with a stunning performance that took classical music masterpieces and spun them into something entirely futuristic through a techno lens. Lucas and Steve followed with a set that fused melody, energy, and anthemic future house in the mountain heights. To close the Orbyz stage on an absolute high, Dutch heavyweights Maddix and Hi Lo joined forces for a back to back that left the crowd roaring.

Meanwhile, a kinetic marvel that made its debut at the last Belgian edition made its alpine arrival in the form of the Floating Sky, suspended inside the Cage. The installation elevated already high energy performances from Amsterdam DJ NOME., future bounce specialist Mike Williams, sibling duo Matisse and Sadko, and Laidback Luke into something truly immersive, transforming sound into a full body experience of movement and light.

The original CORE stage also made a triumphant return to the heart of Alpe d’Huez. Its towering mineral silhouette cast a spell over those who gathered, transporting them through captivating light design and dynamic visuals before a note was even played. Belgian producer Semsei, CORE Radio Show host Dinno Lenny, and the powerhouse back to back pairing of Agoria and Notre Dame each contributed to an experience that reminded everyone why CORE holds a special place in the Tomorrowland canon.

Between sets, festivalgoers refuelled in the cozy mountain restaurants dotted across the resort or grazed their way through more than 50 bars and food stands throughout Alpe d’Huez. And with electric mountain bike rides, paragliding, snowshoeing, mountain kart, dogsled rides, and guided meditations all on the menu from the following day, day one was only the beginning of an alpine adventure unlike anything else in the world of electronic music.
