Sunglasses produced through a collaboration between Maison Margiela and Korean eyewear brand GENTLE MONSTER are now on the market. They were released on March 7, 2024, available for purchase at Maison Margiela Tokyo and various other stores. This marks the second collaboration between Maison Margiela and Gentle Monster, following their initial venture in 2023. The collection comprises 17 distinct styles of sunglasses, all envisioned by Maison Margiela’s creative director, John Galliano.

Among the notable designs are “MM101” and “MM102,” characterized by their unique metallic texture. These sunglasses feature mirror lenses with a futuristic design, crafted to conform closely to the contours of the wearer’s eyes and nose. The temples, embellished with robotic elements, are secured with bolts and adorned with the Maison’s signature four white stitches. Reflecting a bold silhouette reminiscent of knights or armor, MM103 sunglasses boast rimless metallic frames and an angled cat-eye shape, evoking a futuristic ambiance.

The collection offers a variety of materials and colors, including acetate in black, white, and gray, and leather frames in black, ivory, khaki, and blue.

Complementing the sunglasses are six distinct types of glasses in the lineup. MM111 and MM112 feature oval-shaped lenses, evolving from the glasses introduced in the inaugural collaboration. Sculptural rectangular MM113 and MM114, along with trapezoid-shaped MM116 and MM117, also feature Maison Margiela’s four white stitches. Color options for the glasses include black, leopard, tortoiseshell, clear gradation, and brown.
