Centered around a towering humanoid installation, the performance seamlessly merged ancient rituals with futuristic innovation, setting a transformative tone for 2025.
A Multisensory Journey
Mathame’s NEO is more than a performance—it’s an evolving art form that transcends traditional boundaries of electronic music. During their Dubai debut, the duo transported attendees into a realm of light, shadow, and sound. The massive humanoid centerpiece, illuminated by synchronized visuals, served as a symbol of connection between the ancient and modern. The audience was immersed in a spectacle where Mathame’s signature soundscapes met state-of-the-art technology, creating a truly transformative experience.
Origins of NEO
The concept of NEO originated during a journey the brothers Matteo and Amedeo Giovanelli undertook in Tokyo, Japan, in late 2023. Drawing inspiration from the city’s unique blend of tradition and innovation, Mathame envisioned NEO as a bridge between worlds. Officially launched in October 2024 at The Brooklyn Mirage, NEO represents the duo’s vision to combine music, art, and cultural storytelling into a cohesive, immersive experience.
Redefining Electronic Music in 2024
The Dubai debut marked another milestone in a remarkable year for Mathame. The duo released critically acclaimed singles such as “I Will Find You” and “Angel”, while pushing boundaries at Tomorrowland Weekend One with a groundbreaking audiovisual performance featuring a full-length AI-generated feature film. With NEO, Mathame continues to redefine the electronic music genre, merging sound, visuals, and storytelling into an entirely new category of live performance.
The Future of Live Experiences
Mathame’s Dubai performance reinforced their reputation as innovators in the electronic music scene. By blending ancient influences with modern technology, NEO offers audiences a deeply emotional and immersive journey. From the energy of New Year’s Eve in Dubai to stages worldwide, Mathame’s ability to transport listeners through music, art, and culture has solidified their position as pioneers of the next generation of experiential performance.
