Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel: A Renewed Luxury Retreat by the Sea

Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel is set to reopen on April 2, 2025. Located along a white and pink sandy beach on the French Riviera, the hotel offers a view of the clear blue sea. Nearby, a fisherman named Tony guides his boat back to shore. The hotel’s modern architecture, with clean lines and soft colors, blends into the natural surroundings of the peninsula. Guests can start their day with breakfast on the quiet terrace, where a gentle breeze moves the pink umbrellas on the private beach.

Location and History

The Cap d’Antibes area has served as a setting for well-known films, including Alfred Hitchcock’s To Catch a Thief and Jacques Deray’s La Piscine, both of which used its landscapes as a backdrop. Positioned between Port Gallice and Port du Crouton, the hotel occupies a key location on the Riviera.

Before the French Riviera became a globally recognized destination, the site of the hotel was home to La Maison des Pêcheurs, a well-known seafood restaurant established in 1954. Over the years, it attracted well-known figures such as Eddy Barclay, Brigitte Bardot, and Johnny Hallyday.

Now, following a full renovation, Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel has reopened as a five-star boutique hotel with 35 rooms, a private beach, two restaurants, and an all-day bar. The property is designed to offer both relaxation and entertainment, with morning swims in the sea, a lively atmosphere at the Baba beach restaurant, and a bar with views of the Mediterranean. Guests looking for quiet spaces can visit the massage huts in the garden or relax by the infinity pool.

Accommodation

The hotel’s design is influenced by 1960s Florida, featuring a combination of green outdoor spaces, white wooden panels, and shaded walkways. Many of the 35 rooms and suites face the sea, and guests can walk barefoot from their rooms onto cool stone floors before stepping into the garden or directly onto the beach.

Each room is designed as a retreat from the heat and activity of the Riviera. The stone flooring extends from hallways into the rooms, terraces, and bathrooms, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. Some rooms have private gardens, while upper-level suites offer terraces with sea views. Lush greenery surrounding the hotel adds to the calm atmosphere.

Dining and Design

A central feature of the hotel is Les Pêcheurs, the fine dining restaurant. A mahogany staircase leads to the dining area, where floor-to-ceiling windows provide a wide view of the Mediterranean. At night, the lights of the Lérins Islands and Cap d’Estérel can be seen in the distance. The restaurant’s design incorporates materials that reference the region’s maritime and Mediterranean influences, including red travertine flooring, which recalls sun-heated terracotta, and chrome metal columns resembling ship masts. A wooden wall with porthole-style openings offers a view into the kitchen.

The Garden

The hotel’s garden was redesigned by landscape architect Arnaud Casaus, who studied at the Grasse school and has worked on projects in Lebanon, Egypt, and across Europe. His selection of plants includes a South African Cicada tree, an endangered species.

The garden follows the tradition of 19th-century acclimatization gardens, where travelers introduced exotic plants to the French Riviera. The landscape includes a variety of plants selected for their unique forms and seasonal changes. The Jacaranda tree produces purple flowers that form a soft layer on the ground, while the Chorisia Speciosa has a thick, thorn-covered trunk and blooms with pink flowers in autumn. In the summer, Australian brush trees provide bright bursts of color, and tall California palms contribute to the tropical setting.

Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel combines natural surroundings with modern amenities, offering a setting that blends history, architecture, and coastal landscapes.
