Netflix has officially announced the production of a new mystery series titled “The Trunk,” which will showcase the acting prowess of Korea’s A-list talents, Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo. The narrative follows a captivating chain of events and concealed truths that unravel after the discovery of an enigmatic trunk hidden deep within a lake.
In the series, Seo Hyun-jin, renowned for her transformative performances in “Another Miss Oh” and “The Beauty Inside,” takes on the role of In-ji, an employee at NM, an intriguing matchmaking organization. Gong Yoo, celebrated for his roles in “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God,” as well as Netflix’s “Squid Game” and “The Silent Sea,” portrays Jeong-won, a reclusive music producer unexpectedly entangled in a marriage contract with In-ji.
Ironically, Jeong-won’s path intersects with In-ji, whom he refers to as his “second wife,” through a contract-based marriage service arranged by his ex-wife, Seo-yeon. However, their lives take an unforeseen turn when the discovery of a mysterious trunk from the lake plunges them into a whirlwind of secrets and events connected to the workings of the matchmaking service.
“The Trunk” is penned by Park Eun-young, known for her work on “Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth,” and directed by Kim Gyu-tae, acclaimed for his contributions to “Our Blues.” With its captivating storyline and the highly anticipated collaboration between Seo Hyun-jin and Gong Yoo, “The Trunk” is poised to capture viewers’ attention.
