The Banyan Tree Group is all set to make its debut in Europe with the forthcoming Banyan Tree Varko Bay. The luxury resort will be constructed on the Varko Peninsula in Pogonia, Aitoloakarnania, and will consist of approximately 116 villas and 43 branded residences. The collaboration between Banyan Tree and the French hospitality group, Accor, has led to the creation of this five-star resort which is expected to open in 2026.

The resort will offer guests a unique sense of place through its all-pool villa concept, which is a result of Banyan Tree’s pioneering expertise. The accommodations will be well-being-centered and tranquil, offering unforgettable views of the Ionian Sea and the surrounding islands of Lefkada, Meganisi, and Skorpios. The resort will also provide luxurious facilities for rejuvenation of both the mind and body, including the award-winning Banyan Tree Spa, a water sports center, several state-of-the-art venues for meetings and events, a beach club, several bars, and three restaurants, including the signature Saffron, which serves delectable Thai fare.

The resort aims to become the first in Europe to achieve LEED Gold (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, and it has been built in partnership with the award-winning Greek Elastic Architects. Banyan Tree Varko Bay aims to be a model of sustainability for the hospitality sector, prioritizing responsible water use, the use of renewable energy sources, and the encouragement of vegetation growth.
