Inside the ‘Demon Slayer’ exhibition and collaboration cafe in Tokyo

Koyoharu Gotouge is a Japanese manga artist, known for the manga series Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.  Today, the exhibit featuring the first original painting of the anime series is opened at Mori Arts Center Gallery, Tokyo.  The exhibition will be open until December 12, 2021.  The next exhibition will be held from Thursday, July 14, 2022 to Sunday, September 4, 2022 at Grand Front Osaka, Tokyo.

Demon Slayer anime is a cumulative circulation of all 23 volumes of comics with more than 150 million (including the electronic version).  The sequel to the anime which was made into a TV animation on TOKYO MX and all 20 stations from April 2019 and released in October 2020.  The series has exceed 50 billion yen and cause a social phenomenon.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is about the world where human-eating demons live in the Taisho era in Japan.  The calm daily life of a charcoal-selling boy, Tanjiro Kamado, changed completely when his family was murdered by a human-eating demon. His sister, Nezuko, was the only one who survived, but she became a demon. The two depart to return Sadako to humans and defeat the demon that killed her family.

At the first exhibit, the concept of “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Gotouge Koyoharu Original Painting Exhibition is “inheriting.”  In addition to exhibiting a large number of hand-drawn original drawings by author, Koyoharu Gotouge, where he expresses the world of “Kimetsu no Yaiba” with a three-dimensional modeling.

At the “entrance”, a huge key visual drawn by Koyoharu Gotouge for the exhibition welcomes you. After passing through it, Sumijiro and Sadako invite you to the world of “Kimetsu no Yaiba”.

The first step for visitors is the space surrounded by the covers of 23 books filled with the charm of the characters, “Introduction: Glitter-Departure to Immortality-“. In the center, “Kimetsu no Yaiba” Tanjiro Kamado and Mameko Sadako Vol. 0 Figure were installed.

There will be merchandise that will be for sale at the venue.  These include books, t-shirt, tote bags, and pouches.  

There is also a collaboration cafe at the Tokyo venue.  The cafe will be called The Sun & The Moon, located adjacent to the venue.  Food and beverages are decorated with the characters from the anime series.  In addition, the collaboration boba drink will be on sale at “TUSK” on the 1st floor of Roppongi Hills West Walk.
