mesm Tokyo presents a refined reinterpretation of afternoon tea with its ongoing “Afternoon Exhibition” series, combining artistic inspiration with culinary creativity. The latest installment, titled Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, First Half, marks the hotel’s first collaboration with the Sumida Hokusai Museum and will be held at the 16th-floor bar and lounge, Whisk, from June 1 to August 31, 2025.
As the 14th chapter in the “TOKYO WAVES” series, this program draws inspiration from the renowned ukiyo-e masterpiece Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji by Hokusai Katsushika. It offers a multisensory dining experience that explores both the historical and artistic richness of Edo-period Japan through thoughtfully curated dishes and visual storytelling.
The menu includes savory items that reinterpret traditional Edo-era life with a modern flair, alongside an array of sweets inspired by eleven of Hokusai’s iconic prints. Guests are also invited to enjoy pairing mocktails that enhance the thematic elements of the experience. The concept is further anchored by the “Tokyo Waterfront Line,” which symbolically links the Hamarikyu Gardens with the Ryogoku area—two locales integral to Tokyo’s evolving urban and cultural landscape.
The exhibition will unfold in two parts: the first from June 1 to August 31, 2025, and the second from September 1 to November 30, 2025.
