These captivating pieces will captivate guests and art enthusiasts alike, adorning the space until September 30. Furthermore, the public art installations by these gifted artists will be presented as NFTs (non-fungible tokens), blending The Peninsula Manila’s artistic ethos with pioneering blockchain technology. This groundbreaking endeavor is a collaboration with Scarlet Box, a distinguished NFT art launchpad based in Asia.
Mano Gonzales’s creations engage with themes of politics, identity, and gender, skillfully navigating through the fabric of societal memory. This self-taught artist hailing from Manila employs a rich tapestry of influences, encompassing drawing, sculpture, and fashion styling, to craft a compelling body of work.
In contrast, Alaga’s artwork is a vibrant homage to queer ecology, advocating for the preservation and safeguarding of the Philippines’ diverse biodiversity. Their creations reflect how indigenous flora and fauna mirror the multifaceted aspects of our archipelago’s socio-economic, spiritual, and ecological dimensions, expressed through the medium of textiles, performance, and illustration.
Through “Art in Resonance,” The Peninsula Manila maintains its enduring commitment to the Philippine cultural landscape, fostering an environment where creative talents can bring intricate projects to life in the form of public art. To enrich this cultural experience, the program will also feature insightful panel discussions and engaging tours throughout its duration.
