Krabi, Thailand, renowned for its ancient limestone cliffs and lush coastal terrain, has made a triumphant return to Hollywood’s spotlight as the primary filming location for Jurassic World Rebirth, the latest installment in the global blockbuster franchise that premiered worldwide on July 2, 2025.
Set along the serene Tubkaek Beach, approximately 25 kilometers west of Krabi Town, the five-star Banyan Tree Krabi served as the production base for much of the film. Nestled between forested national parkland and the Andaman Sea, the resort features 72 elegantly appointed pool suites and villas, including seven two-bedroom units, a three-bedroom villa, and a lavish seven-bedroom Presidential Beachfront Pool Villa. All accommodations face westward, offering uninterrupted views of uninhabited islands that dot the turquoise seascape.
Before selecting Krabi, the film’s producers had scouted locations in the Dominican Republic, Mauritius, Panama, and Costa Rica. Ultimately, Thailand’s pristine geography won out, echoing the same raw, primeval beauty that drew developers Asset World Corporation (AWC) to establish Banyan Tree Krabi in 2020.
Krabi is more than just a destination. It is a living relic of the prehistoric era. The limestone cliffs surrounding the region date back over 90 million years, formed when the sea level was higher and tectonic shifts uplifted massive seabed rock into the dramatic karst formations seen today. The result is a landscape that feels otherworldly, a fitting backdrop for a film set in the age of dinosaurs.
To celebrate its cinematic moment, Banyan Tree Krabi has introduced a new guest experience called “The Jurassic Explorer,” a family-oriented package that immerses visitors in the film’s exotic locations. Guests are greeted with a themed welcome drink and snack before setting off on a half-day longtail boat excursion to Hong Island and nearby islets. The package also includes a guided tour of Klong Root, a clear-water canal and key film location, a keepsake guidebook detailing each featured site, a 60-minute spa treatment, and discounted tickets to the Jurassic World Experience in Bangkok.

Asset World Corporation, which owns the resort, is also a sponsor of the Jurassic World Experience, an interactive exhibition at Asiatique The Riverfront that features life-sized dinosaurs and immersive activities.
One highlight of the package is the guided eco-tour to Klong Root, where guests paddle through crystalline waters under a dense jungle canopy. These same waterways appear in the film’s penultimate scene, where the protagonists flee through the wilderness to evade predators. For those who prefer to explore independently, the resort’s guidebook maps out other filming locations such as Phra Nang Cave Beach, reachable by boat, and Huay To Waterfall in Khao Phanom Bencha National Park, an hour’s drive away.
Scarlett Johansson stars in Jurassic World Rebirth as Zora Bennett, a determined scientist leading a mission to secure dinosaur DNA for medical research. Offscreen, Johansson has expressed her fondness for Thailand, noting that her favorite dish is laab gai, a spicy and herbaceous minced chicken salad.
Inspired by this, Banyan Tree Krabi has introduced “Jurassic Laab – A Star’s Wild Bite,” a fiery rendition of the Thai classic made with either minced chicken or beef and served with toasted rice powder. Another new creation is the “Fossil Egg,” a hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, deep-fried and plated as a playful nod to prehistoric cuisine.

At the beachfront Kredkaew Bar, new cocktails carry the Jurassic theme forward. “The Raptor Forest” blends Midori, Thai rum, pineapple juice, lemongrass syrup, ginger ale, and lime. Another bold creation, “T-Rex Rampage,” features a punchy mix built around Campari.
After a day of exploring ancient landscapes or tracking film locations, guests can unwind at Banyan Tree Spa Krabi with the “Rebirth in Tranquility” treatment, a combination of full-body massage and rejuvenating herbal bath.
The Jurassic Explorer package is available through December 21, 2025, with a minimum three-night stay. For travelers seeking cinematic adventure, natural wonder, and refined luxury in one destination, Krabi offers a setting as timeless as the story it now helps tell.
