Today, LG Electronics (LG) hosted its LG World Premiere press conference at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, unveiling its new vision and exhibition theme for CES 2024, titled ‘Reinvent your future.’

During the event, CEO William Cho reiterated the company’s ambitious goal, first announced last year, to become a Smart Life Solution Company. With nearly seven decades of experience understanding global consumers and their living spaces, LG is now expanding its business beyond the home into various areas, including mobility, commercial, and virtual spaces. The company is committed to enhancing the customer experience by focusing on five key elements: Care, Connectivity, Customization, Servitization, and Sustainability.

In their journey to innovate and elevate customer experiences, LG has identified AI as a crucial enabler of success. Instead of solely focusing on the technology’s evolution, LG is dedicated to demonstrating how AI can provide tangible benefits in the real world. They have redefined AI as “Affectionate Intelligence,” emphasizing its potential to create a more caring, empathetic, and attentive customer experience.

During the press conference, CEO Cho highlighted the unique features of LG’s AI solutions, emphasizing their ability to harness a wealth of data from the 500 to 700 million LG products in use globally. These products include smart devices equipped with AI-supported intelligent sensors, optimized to learn and analyze users’ ‘physical’ and ‘emotional’ life patterns. LG stands out by drawing on ‘real life’ data gathered from billions of connected devices, providing valuable insights into customer-device interactions, environments, behavior patterns, and emotional states.

CEO Cho further explained the crucial role played by the LG AI Brain, a powerful processing engine driven by LG’s large language model. Using vast user data, the AI Brain forecasts customer needs, performs advanced reasoning processes, and generates optimal solutions by orchestrating the actions of physical devices.

LG is committed to employing AI ethically and being accountable for the impacts and consequences of its decisions and actions. The company has implemented a robust data security system, LG Shield, designed to protect personal data at every stage, from collection to utilization. LG aims to surpass industry benchmarks for AI implementation, emphasizing Responsible Intelligence.

CEO Cho concluded by stating that LG’s approach to AI is rooted in the belief that customers should have full control. He emphasized the company’s promise, saying, “Life’s Good,” reflecting their commitment to creating a better life for customers in the age of AI.

At the event, CEO Cho was joined by Jung Ki-hyun, vice president and head of LG’s Platform Business Center, and Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG Vehicle Component Solutions (VS) Company, who introduced AI-based innovative technologies and strategies.

Vice president Jung presented a blueprint for LG’s AI-based smart home, incorporating ‘Affectionate Intelligence’ into the ThinQ platform. New services such as ‘ChatThinQ’ and ‘3D Home View’ were unveiled, along with plans for a new smart home hub.

In the mobility segment, president Eun Seok-hyun shared LG’s vision for cars as a ‘living space on wheels’ powered by software-defined vehicle (SDV) solutions. He introduced LG AlphaWare, the company’s suite of software solutions for SDV, including versatile software modules, operation solutions, in-cabin entertainment solutions, and human-machine interface solutions, providing an immersive in-vehicle experience.
