Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes has been awarded Green Globe Gold certification, recognizing five consecutive years of continued improvement in sustainable management and operations. The distinction highlights the hotel’s long term commitment to responsible tourism, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.

Sustainability is deeply embedded across the property, with a strong focus on reducing environmental impact and encouraging circular practices. The hotel has significantly reduced its use of single use plastics, enhanced waste sorting and recycling systems, and introduced sustainable alternatives throughout guest and staff areas. It works in close partnership with Take a Waste, a specialist waste management service supporting circular economy principles, sorting, and recycling, particularly for events and seminars. Reusable glass bottles and glasses have replaced plastic items, while used soap is collected and recycled by Unisoap before being redistributed to communities in need.

A newly introduced Supplier Code of Conduct further strengthens the hotel’s environmental commitments, aligning suppliers with the sustainability standards of the Barrière Group. Preference is given to partners that deliver goods in reusable containers, including Balicco, a major supplier of fresh food products providing reusable pallets, and the Menton fish market, which supplies seafood in reusable crates. This approach forms part of an ongoing process, with continuous improvements actively encouraged.

Operational sustainability has also been a key focus over the past five years. The hotel has streamlined processes, adopted new green technologies, and enhanced resource management practices to reduce energy and water consumption. Measures include the installation of LED lighting, motion sensors, and water saving devices, alongside a linen and towel reuse program where changes are carried out only upon request.

Biodiversity protection plays an important role in the hotel’s sustainability vision. Pesticide free landscaping supports local ecosystems, while rooftop beehives contribute to pollinator conservation. Four beehives are installed on the hotel roof, each home to approximately 60,000 bees producing honey. During the summer months, a weekly Sunday activity invites children to join the hotel’s beekeeper to explore the hives, learn about the importance of bee conservation, and enjoy honey tastings.

Celebrating its one hundredth anniversary in 2026, Hotel Barrière Le Majestic Cannes continues to embody French elegance and refinement. Renowned for its timeless character and panoramic views over the Mediterranean, the iconic hotel remains firmly committed to shaping a more sustainable future for luxury hospitality.
