For coffee obsessives, Omotesando is about to gain a serious new address.
Italian specialty coffee brand Vannelli Coffee will open its world’s first flagship store in Tokyo’s Omotesando on February 5, 2026, bringing a level of precision and provenance usually reserved for fine wine into a café setting. Founded by brothers Giacomo and Pietro Vannelli, the brand has long been known among professionals for supplying high end coffee beans and running a rigorous academy for baristas. The Omotesando opening marks the first time that expertise will be fully expressed in a customer facing café.
At the heart of the experience is coffee selected by Giacomo Vannelli, whose technical ability has earned recognition across the industry, including participation in the World Barista Championship. The menu is built for those who drink coffee with intention, featuring prized Geisha varietals, often considered the apex of coffee quality, alongside nuanced flavor profiles designed to challenge conventional expectations of aroma, sweetness, and finish. A premium coffee developed exclusively for Japan adds a sense of rarity for local enthusiasts.
The offering extends beyond the cup. Italian inspired sweets, rooted in the brand’s heritage, are designed to complement the coffee rather than compete with it, encouraging guests to slow down and taste with focus.
The flagship store itself reflects the same attention to craft. Created in collaboration with Hyogo based furniture manufacturer Kobayashi Woodworking Co., Ltd., the space is simple and modern, with custom fixtures and display cases that highlight materials, balance, and restraint. It is a setting that invites coffee lovers to linger, observe, and savor.
