Squid Game fans are about to step directly into the series’ high tension universe. An immersive experience titled Shibuya Real Squid Game is set to take over Tokyu Plaza Shibuya from January 16 to July 20, 2026, transforming the global Netflix hit into a fully playable reality.
Inspired by the Korean survival drama Squid Game, the event recreates the show’s unmistakable atmosphere, where players risk elimination in games rooted in childhood nostalgia. The entire third floor of Tokyu Plaza Shibuya is converted into a large scale game arena, with up to 20 participants competing in each session.
The experience begins the moment visitors enter. Players scan their faces to register, just like in the series, before the games officially start. Over roughly 90 minutes, participants take on six challenges seen in the show, including Red Light Green Light, tug of war, and marbles. Each game unfolds inside carefully recreated environments designed to heighten suspense and immersion. Once all rounds are complete, a single overall winner is selected.
After the gameplay, participants can head to a dedicated photo spot featuring exclusive Squid Game themed frames, perfect for capturing the aftermath of survival and victory.
The event also caters to fans beyond the competition. A Squid Game collaboration café offers original food and drink items, while a merchandise zone called Younghee’s Playground features official goods from the series, including collectibles and apparel inspired by the show’s iconic visuals.
