Accor’s Grand Expansion: 23 New Properties in Japan

Accor is expanding its presence in Japan as it introduces the Daiwa Resorts portfolio, which encompasses 23 properties and over 6,000 rooms, into its nationwide network. These hotels are slated to open simultaneously in Q2 of 2024, with reservations becoming available starting on November 6, 2023.

In this expansion, Grand Mercure will make its first appearance in Japan, offering premium hotels with a “Proudly Local” theme. This concept aims to inspire guests to immerse themselves in their destinations through local celebrations and multi-sensory experiences thoughtfully curated by local hosts. Additionally, Mercure will provide high-quality midscale hotels with a focus on locally inspired offerings that ignite travelers’ curiosity for exploration.

Among the notable properties set to open are the Grand Mercure Yatsugatake Resort & Spa, nestled in the picturesque mountainous landscape of Yatsugatake, and the Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort, located amidst the azure sea and pristine white sands of Zanpa Beach. Both properties will undergo extensive renovations, encompassing common areas like the lobby, restaurants, and hot springs (onsen). Notably, Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa is poised to unveil one of the largest swimming pools in Okinawa prefecture.

The comprehensive renovation work on these properties is scheduled to commence in Q4 of 2023, with an anticipated completion date in Q2 of 2024. After this refurbishment, these properties will operate under the prestigious Grand Mercure and Mercure brands, enhancing Accor’s presence in Japan.
