HOSHINOYA, known for creating exceptional escapes that embody the true essence of land, history, and culture, has once again surpassed expectations with HOSHINOYA Guguan. This stunning hot spring resort is nestled at the base of the Taiwan Central Mountain Range, offering the perfect retreat from the scorching summer heat with its concept of mushu — pure, refreshing water.

The resort’s latest offering, the “Slow Valley Stay” program, running from July 1st to August 31st, 2023, is inspired by the concept of “slow travel,” which encourages guests to immerse themselves in the local life and culture of Guguan. During this 2-night, 3-day stay, guests are invited to explore and appreciate the region’s natural beauty, rich history, and the warmth of its people.

As guests arrive at the hotel, they are welcomed with a special tea ceremony in the Water Garden, where they can savor a custom-blended herbal tea amidst the lush greenery of over 100 plant species. This tranquil setting helps guests unwind and prepare for an extraordinary stay.

After a delightful dinner on the first night, guests are led by the staff on a lantern-lit exploration of the Water Garden, revealing its enchanting nocturnal charm. With the soothing sounds of insects and water, and a cool breeze caressing their skin, guests might even catch a glimpse of elusive creatures like the guo shan xia, a sparkling freshwater prawn that inhabits the waterway. A serene moment under the starry sky completes the experience, bringing them closer to nature.

On the second day, guests venture to the Dajia River, a pristine and secluded spot, just a short drive and walk away from HOSHINOYA Guguan. Here, they marvel at the crystal-clear waters and breathtaking natural panoramas while learning about the river’s history and the culture of the Atayal people, the indigenous group living in Guguan. Guests even get to try their traditional fishing method before enjoying a special riverside lunch.

After some riverside fun, the program offers exclusive access to a large public bath, where guests can indulge in stretches guided by the staff before relaxing in the serene open-air bath surrounded by trees and flowers, creating a refreshing atmosphere. To complete the experience, a dessert of sweet pears soaked in syrup and stuffed with tao jiao, wolfberry, and acacia seeds, along with peach vinegar tea, awaits guests.

The final day promises a leisurely stay until check-out, with a specially crafted brunch delivered to the guest room. The appetizer features trout marinated with local ingredients, garnished with caviar and tapioca, and drizzled with dragon fruit sauce. The main dish is squid ink pasta topped with fragrant truffles and a sauce based on sauce américaine, enhancing its flavors and leaving guests satisfied.

HOSHINOYA Guguan’s “Slow Valley Stay” program is truly a remarkable journey that allows guests to embrace the essence of Guguan and create lasting memories of their extraordinary escape.
