I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a staycation at the Sonesta Redondo Beach & Marina, and I must say it was a delightful experience. Surrounded by views of the Pacific Ocean and the Palos Verdes Hills, this hotel is conveniently located just minutes away from the Redondo Beach Pier, the James R. Armstrong Theatre, the Toyota Sports Center, and more. The location is particularly convenient, being just a 15-minute walk or a 4-minute drive from the pier. The hotel offers a comfortable and leisurely stay for couples, families, and business travelers alike.

Accommodation

During my visit, I had the chance to tour the Junior Executive Suite and stayed in the King Guest Room with a Pool View. I highly recommend the latter for its balcony and ocean views. The balcony is the perfect spot to relax, enjoy snacks or coffee, and take in the soothing ocean breeze. The pool view added an extra touch of tranquility to my stay, making it easy to unwind.

The Junior Executive Suite features a larger living area, making it ideal for business travelers or those who need extra space. However, the absence of a balcony led me to prefer the King Guest Room with a Pool View, as the outdoor space and views significantly enhanced my overall experience.

Dining

The hotel offers two on-site dining options: SOL and Harbor, each uniquely decorated and catering to different tastes and preferences.

Harbor Bar & Bistro provides a relaxed and casual dining environment. It’s a great spot to enjoy drinks while watching sports games or simply unwind after a day of exploring. The atmosphere is laid-back, with comfortable seating options including bar stools and tables. The food at Harbor Bar & Bistro exceeded my expectations.

I highly recommend the Asian tacos, featuring shrimp, cabbage, wonton, sriracha honey crème, and cotija cheese. The flavors were vibrant, the shrimp was fresh, and the wonton added a delightful crunch. Another standout dish was the avocado toast, served with fig jam, sliced radishes, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and micro cilantro. The combination of garlic butter and fig jam created a unique and memorable taste experience.

For dessert, the chocolate molten cake was a perfect ending to the meal. Warm and filled with chocolate sauce, it was served with vanilla ice cream and fruits—a treat that is sure to please both adults and children.

For those traveling on business or hosting events, the meeting and event spaces are well-designed, featuring modern audiovisual equipment and customizable setups to accommodate different types of gatherings, from corporate meetings to social events.

Additional Highlights

One unique feature of the hotel is its charming mini garden located near the restaurant. This garden is not only a pleasant space to explore but also serves a practical purpose, as some of the fresh ingredients used in cocktails at Harbor are sourced directly from here. This farm-to-table approach adds a special touch to the dining experience, emphasizing the hotel’s commitment to quality and freshness.
