SQUARE ENIX® unveiled new information about the fifth expansion pack for FINAL FANTASY™ XIV Online, titled Dawntrail™, during a special announcement. The expansion is scheduled for a Summer 2024 release.
The highlight of the announcement was the introduction of a brand-new job, “Viper,” known for its dual-wielding capabilities. Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida revealed this exciting addition during a keynote address at the FINAL FANTASY XIV Fan Festival 2023 in London. An accompanying teaser trailer showcased the ferocious combat abilities of the Warrior of Light as this close-range fighter.
During the same keynote, a new alliance raid series was announced for the 7.x content cycle, named “Echoes of Vana’diel,” which is a crossover with FINAL FANTASY XI.
Dawntrail will bring a wealth of fresh content, including an increased level cap, multiple new jobs, expansive new areas, allied tribes, dungeons, and core battle content like FATEs, Hunts, Treasure Hunts, sidequests, and more. Some of the exciting features announced for players to anticipate include:
– The new job, “Viper,” which wields two one-handed blades that can be combined into a single two-handed weapon.
– The introduction of a new city, “Tuliyollal,” serving as the seat of the federal nation-state governing Tural, located in the Northern Reaches of Yok Tural.
– Two new areas: the tropical Kozama’uka, with its rivers and waterfalls, and the arid Shaaloani, where a railroad is under construction.
– The addition of a new allied tribe, “The Moblins,” residing in the jungles of Kozama’uka.
– The emergence of a new threat known as “Eliminator.”
– The inclusion of the “Echoes of Vana’diel” alliance raid series, bridging FINAL FANTASY XI and FINAL FANTASY XIV.
– A new limited job planned for release in the latter half of the Patch 7.x series.
These announcements complement those made at the FINAL FANTASY XIV Fan Festival 2023 in Las Vegas, which included details about the journey to the new world, Tural, and its capital, Tuliyollal; exploration of new areas like Urqopacha and Yak T’el; an increased level cap from 90 to 100; multiple new jobs; core battle content; dungeons; new threats like Valigarmanda; and various updates and additions to the game.
Furthermore, Dawntrail marks the game’s first graphical update, enhancing both character and world visuals with improvements to aesthetics, higher resolution textures, and improved material qualities.
Yoshida also provided insight into upcoming content in the 6.x series, including a crossover questline with FINAL FANTASY XVI titled “The Path Infernal” and the official launch of the Gold Saucer attraction inspired by Fall Guys on October 31 as part of Patch 6.51.
Fans can look forward to the open beta for the Xbox Series X|S version of FINAL FANTASY XIV Online, set to launch between mid-January and February 2024. The official launch on the Xbox family of consoles is scheduled for Spring 2024, offering players the opportunity to explore Eorzea with 4K support on Xbox Series X.
