The Manila International Film Festival (MIFF) has announced its official selection of films and panel discussions, set to take place from March 4 to 7, 2025, at TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood. Now in its second year, the festival showcases the work of both Filipino and Filipino-American filmmakers, celebrating the rich history of Philippine cinema—one of the oldest film industries in Asia.

The lineup includes a mix of major box office hits, Hollywood collaborations, documentaries, and special anniversary screenings:

  • “Hello, Love, Again” – The first Filipino film to earn over P1 billion at the box office and the first to break into the U.S. top 10. A Q&A with producer Kriz G. Gazmen will follow the screening.
  • “Love Hurts” – A Hollywood feature marking the directorial debut of Filipino-American filmmaker Jonathan Eusebio. Starring Oscar winners Ke Huy Quan and Ariana DeBose, the film will be followed by a discussion with the director.
  • “Nurse Unseen” – A documentary that highlights the sacrifices of Filipino nurses working on the front lines of the pandemic, often far from their homeland. A Q&A session will feature director Michele Josue and executive producer Jo Koy.
  • “The Debut” – Celebrating its 25th anniversary, this film was the first Filipino-American movie released in theaters across the U.S. and a milestone for the Fil-Am community. A special discussion will include director Gene Cajayon, actor Dante Basco, and producer John Castro.
  • World Premiere of “Song of the Fireflies” – A musical drama starring Morissette Amon and Rachel Alejandro, inspired by the true story of the Loboc Children’s Choir, a group from a small town in Bohol that gained international recognition.
  • World Premiere of “Faith Healers” – A documentary by Regina Aquino exploring the experiences of Filipino doctors who moved to the U.S. and built a thriving community in Prince George’s County, Maryland, while navigating cultural differences.
  • “Eraserheads: Combo On The Run” – A behind-the-scenes look at the legendary Filipino rock band Eraserheads, produced by Warner Bros. This work-in-progress documentary captures their journey as they prepare for their highly anticipated reunion concert.

The festival will conclude with a tribute dinner at The Beverly Hilton on March 7, honoring industry icons Vilma Santos, Ricky Lee, Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo, and the late Lily Monteverde for their lasting contributions to Philippine cinema. Additionally, actors Tia Carrere and Nico Santos will be recognized for paving the way for greater representation of Asian artists in Hollywood. The evening will also include a special tribute to a Southern California wildfire first responder.

From March 4 to 7, the festival will also host Q&A sessions with key talent associated with the films, including:
