To mark the most important holiday on the Chinese calendar, The Peninsula Hong Kong offers a range of celebratory activities, dining experiences, spa offers, and exclusive stay packages to help guests greet the Year of the Snake with luxury and tradition.

Lion Dance Performances: A Lunar New Year Tradition

For over four decades, The Peninsula Hong Kong has celebrated the Lunar New Year with one of the city’s most stunning lion and dragon dance performances, symbolizing prosperity and good fortune. On 29 January 2025 at 9:30 am, a troupe of nine lions and one dragon will perform in the hotel forecourt, continuing through the hotel to bring blessings to guests and staff alike. This year’s performance will feature three exclusive red and gold Peninsula lions, each adorned with the Chinese character for the hotel’s name.

Guests visiting on 29 January can also receive special Lunar New Year keepsakes, including fai chun, traditional calligraphy symbols for health, happiness, and prosperity. These will be available at The Verandah and Spring Moon from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

A second lion and dragon dance will take place at 8:30 am on 1 February 2025, the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, which celebrates the birthday of the God of Wealth.

Share the joy of the holiday with gourmet Lunar New Year gifts from The Peninsula Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred Spring Moon restaurant. Elegant gift boxes filled with traditional delicacies are available, including the luxurious Divine Treasures Hamper (HK$ 3,288), featuring a selection of gourmet treats such as XO Chilli Sauce, Sichuan Chilli Sauce, Yunnan Aged Pu-Er tea, and premium Red Date Pudding (HK$ 488).

Also available are popular Chinese New Year puddings:

  • Turnip Pudding (HK$ 488)
  • Taro Pudding (HK$ 418)
  • Water Chestnut Pudding (HK$ 418)
  • Chinese New Year Pudding (HK$ 418)

Guests can also purchase Spring Moon’s signature Chiu Chow Chilli Sauce (HK$ 248), Sichuan Chilli Sauce (HK$ 348), and XO Chilli Sauce (HK$ 428) for personal enjoyment or as thoughtful gifts.

Celebratory Feasts at Spring Moon

Guests can indulge in Michelin-starred Cantonese cuisine at Spring Moon during the Lunar New Year celebrations. Special festive dishes like Poon Choi (available from 29 January – 4 February 2025) symbolize abundance and prosperity, featuring ingredients such as 5-head abalones, sea cucumbers, Hokkaido scallops, and roasted duck. The dish is available for à la carte orders or takeaway, priced at HK$ 2,688 for two people and HK$ 4,988 for four people.

Additionally, Spring Moon offers Lo Hei (HK$ 1,388), a dish featuring gourmet ingredients like abalone, salmon roe, and gold foil, perfect for sharing during family gatherings.

For larger groups, Spring Moon offers three exclusive set menus ideal for parties of 10 guests:

  • “Fortune” (HK$ 17,380 for 10 guests)
  • “Wealth” (HK$ 22,380 for 10 guests)
  • “Longevity” (HK$ 27,880 for 10 guests)

Honoring Tradition with Special Delicacies

In Chinese culture, new parents traditionally offer vinegar-preserved pig’s trotters with red eggs to celebrate the arrival of a newborn. Spring Moon’s culinary team creates this healthful delicacy with Japanese pig trotters, fresh eggs, and a blend of vinegars, offering a nourishing treat. It is priced at HK$ 398 per box and must be pre-ordered.

Lunar New Year Fireworks Dinner: A Spectacular Celebration

On the evening of 30 January 2025, The Peninsula Hong Kong invites guests to experience a Lunar New Year Fireworks Display, paired with a range of gourmet dining options. Guests can enjoy classic French cuisine at Gaddi’s, seasonal dishes at Felix, Swiss specialties at Chesa, and more. The Sun Terrace offers a prime location for guests to enjoy both the fireworks and stunning views of Hong Kong’s skyline.

Both treatments are available from 20 January to 7 February 2025.
