The stately Grand Hotel des Iles Borromées on Lake Maggiore will host the eighth edition of Taste Alto Piemonte, the leading showcase devoted to the wines of Upper Piedmont. Organized by the Consorzio Tutela Nebbioli Alto Piemonte, the two-day event captures the region’s quiet elegance and celebrates its deeply rooted viticultural traditions.

A Journey into Upper Piedmont’s Terroir

Framed by the Alps and the shimmering waters of Lake Maggiore, Upper Piedmont is defined by volcanic soils and a rarefied microclimate. These conditions give birth to wines of striking finesse and complexity. At Taste Alto Piemonte, the spotlight shines on the native grape varieties—chief among them Nebbiolo, flanked by Vespolina, Croatina, and Uva Rara. Together they reveal the character of the area’s ten protected denominations: Boca DOC, Bramaterra DOC, Colline Novaresi DOC, Coste della Sesia DOC, Fara DOC, Gattinara DOCG, Ghemme DOCG, Lessona DOC, Sizzano DOC, and Valli Ossolane DOC.

Producers, Tastings, and Masterclasses

On Sunday, November 9, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Monday, November 10, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., more than 50 producers will pour new vintages at tasting tables that stretch from Gattinara to Ghemme, Lessona to Boca. Curated masterclasses by AIS Piemonte will delve into the nuances of each denomination, exploring how Nebbiolo and its companions translate terroir into glass.

Beyond the Glass

Guests can shop at a temporary wine store carrying the featured labels and visit a dedicated press room. Specially designed spaces will highlight the stories of individual producers, reinforcing the bond between wine, landscape, and community.

A Benchmark Event for Wine Lovers

By gathering winemakers, trade professionals, and enthusiasts, Taste Alto Piemonte underscores Upper Piedmont’s growing stature on Italy’s wine map. Here, in the shadow of the Alps, Nebbiolo and native varieties continue to express an enduring elegance and authenticity that define one of the country’s most captivating wine territories.
