Following the groundbreaking ceremony for the Cultural Terrace, the Great Park is destined to transform into Orange County’s hub for music, art, dance, and history. This pivotal moment, a key component of the Great Park Framework Plan, pushes the City of Irvine closer to its vision of creating one of the nation’s largest municipal parks.

Upon its completion, the Cultural Terrace will feature 200,000 square feet of innovative museum, educational, and performing arts facilities. It is poised to become one of Southern California’s premier destinations for culture, history, and learning, paying tribute to Irvine’s diverse community, military roots, and promising future.

  • The South Coast Chinese Cultural Center, leading efforts to establish an Asian American History museum.

Also construction has kicked off in the Western Sector of the Great Park, near the Corsair and Phantom traffic circle, as well as on the north and west sides of Parking Lot 2, marking the inception of Great Park Live. Formerly known as the North Lawn, this area is undergoing a makeover into a temporary amphitheater. Scheduled for a grand opening in the summer of 2024, Great Park Live will become a vibrant venue for live music, community events, and a hub for food and beverages until the summer of 2026. Construction activities are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, including Memorial Day, until June 30, 2024.
