The International Queen of Burlesque, Dita Von Teese, made an announcement today regarding her premiere residency, titled “DITA LAS VEGAS: A Jubilant Revue,” which will take place at Horseshoe Las Vegas. The residency will open in the Jubilee Theater on Thursday, October 5, 2023. Having been a lifelong enthusiast of the renowned Las Vegas show Jubilee, which was the last remaining showgirl production of its kind running at Bally’s Las Vegas from 1981 to 2016, Dita will unveil a new show that combines her distinctive burlesque acts with the celebrated Jubilee aesthetic. This will involve incorporating some of the original costumes and sets from the show.

Dita Von Teese has gained international recognition as the Queen of Burlesque, showcasing unparalleled artistry, flair, and sophistication as a performer, creative director, choreographer, and producer. Her signature style has inspired numerous fashion designers and couturiers, influencing their collections and making appearances on runways, campaigns, and red carpets. Dita has also made her mark as a designer, collaborator, and entrepreneur, venturing into fashion, beauty, music, publishing, spirits, and entertainment production under her own name.

Onstage, Dita captivates audiences with her exceptional and extravagant displays of fantasy and spectacle. Her original and elaborate sets, combined with haute couture costumes adorned with Swarovski crystals, dazzle viewers across continents. Renowned fashion designers such as Jean-Paul Gaultier, Elie Saab, Alexis Mabille, and Jenny Packham have created looks for her performances, while Christian Louboutin consistently crafts her custom footwear. Collaborating with legendary corsetier Mr. Pearl and burlesque star-turned-designer Catherine D’Lish, Dita brings awe-inspiring costumes that leave a lasting impression to life. Her remarkable performances and productions have established her as a prominent global ambassador for the art of burlesque.

Dita was personally selected by Taylor Swift to portray a burlesque-inspired fairy godmother in the star-studded music video “Bejeweled,” the chart-topping track from Swift’s bestselling 2022 album, “Midnights.” In the video, Dita shares two of her iconic martini glasses with Swift, as the two icons partake in a sparkling escapade. Prior to this, Dita tantalized audiences worldwide with her appearance in the critically acclaimed 2022 film “Don’t Worry Darling,” starring Harry Styles, Florence Pugh, and Olivia Wilde.

Dita’s unique style has also been translated into various marketable collections, including lingerie, gloves, jewelry, and hats in collaboration with Hood London. Additionally, she has an upcoming signature clothing line in the works, created in partnership with Austrian-based designer Lena Hoschek.

Of course, it all culminates in the curtain call, and Dita’s four full-length revues stand as the most magnificent tours in the history of burlesque. These include “Strip, Strip, Hooray!” (2013-2016), “The Art of the Teese” (2017), “Dita Von Teese and the Copper Coupe” (2018), and “Glamonatrix” (2019 and 2022-2023).

“DITA LAS VEGAS: A Jubilant Revue” stands as the epitome of opulence in the realm of burlesque productions. It encapsulates the true essence of burlesque, showcasing impeccable choreography, mesmerizing costumes, and a stage production that exudes razzle dazzle. Dita Von Teese’s own revues have attained unparalleled grandeur and global acclaim, attracting millions of spectators to sold-out shows in renowned theaters worldwide. Now, making her debut in the shimmering city of Las Vegas, the undisputed Queen of Burlesque brings her latest spectacle to the forefront.

Taking center stage as the Marquee Star and guiding the entire creative direction, Dita presents a relentless 75-minute performance that pays homage to the magnificent spirit of Jubilee and the historic Horseshoe theater. The show capitalizes on the venue’s groundbreaking hydraulic lifts, floating platforms, and renowned passerelle, ensuring a truly immersive experience. The iconic costumes from Jubilee, originally designed by the legendary Bob Mackie and Pete Menefee, will once again glisten under the spotlight as Dita and her ensemble conjure the vivacity of the Vegas showgirl, reimagined in her inimitable style.

Reflecting on her vision, Dita expresses her elation: “It has always been my dream to create a show that honors the great American art forms of burlesque and the showgirl.” After embarking on numerous successful tours across Europe, Australia, the United States, and Canada, securing a residency in Las Vegas—the entertainment capital of the world—featuring the illustrious Jubilee legacy, fills her with unparalleled excitement. Recalling her frequent visits to the show before its closure, she fondly reminisces about the feathers and rhinestones, describing it as the ultimate showgirl revue, from the theater to the Mackie-Menefee costumes.

Dita emphasizes that both the burlesque and the showgirl are far from relics of the past, highlighting their ongoing evolution and thriving nature. She speaks from personal experience, having defied traditional expectations of height, figure, and age throughout her career. Not fitting the mold for ballet dancers, Crazy Horse cast members or even showgirls, she has always been a proponent of shattering expectations. Dita firmly asserts that her Vegas residency will embody this same spirit.

Kurt Melien, President of Live Nation Las Vegas, acknowledges Dita Von Teese’s iconic status and universal appeal as a performer, recognizing her as the perfect individual to breathe new life into Jubilee’s sets and costumes. Melien expresses his belief that “DITA LAS VEGAS” will fill the void left by the absence of classic showgirl productions in Las Vegas in recent years, introducing something fresh and exciting to audiences through Dita’s unique interpretation of the original show.
