“Greatest Works of Art” by Jay Chou Wins IFPI 2022 Global Album Sales Chart

The organization representing the recorded music industry worldwide, IFIP, has announced that Jay Chou’s 15th studio album “Greatest Works of Art” has won the IFPI 2022 Global Album Sales Chart. This is the first time Jay has won the award and he is also the first Mandopop artist to achieve this feat, following his appearance at No. 9 on the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year 2022.

The award is presented to the artist or group with the most unit sales across physical and digital download formats. Jay’s album took the top spot, followed by BTS’ “Proof” at #2 and Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” at #3, highlighting the continuing importance of Mandopop music and reflecting the increasingly diverse spectrum of music available to music lovers around the world today.

IFPI presented Jay with a custom trophy featuring an inset of his winning album cover in recognition of his achievement. In response, he thanked his fans worldwide and expressed his hope that his music would be appreciated worldwide. IFPI CEO Frances Moore commented on Jay’s remarkable success and his unique talent and the exceptional relationships he has built with his fans worldwide.

Since his debut in 2000, Jay has been writing all his own songs and continues to push his creative boundaries, earning him the nickname “The New King of Asian Pop” by TIME Magazine in 2003. He is a multi-talented singer, having made his directorial debut with the award-winning film Secret in 2007 and also starring in Hollywood movies like The Green Hornet and Now You Can See Me 2. Jay’s talents span across various dimensions, driven by his determination to explore greater possibilities for his works and to bring Mandopop to a global audience.
