Orange County, California is gearing up to host several FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) events this year, challenging high school students to design, build, and program robots for a complex game that changes annually. The competition aims to encourage young people to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields by offering hands-on learning opportunities and real-world experience.

The FRC is a worldwide competition that attracts teams from across California, other nearby states, and international regions. One of the main events of the year is the Orange County Regional, which is set to take place from March 9-12, 2023, at the Orange County Fair & Events Center located at 88 Fair Drive in Costa Mesa, CA.

During the Orange County Regional, teams will participate in a series of matches on a playing field specifically designed for that year’s game. The matches are timed and involve robots completing various tasks and challenges such as moving objects, navigating obstacles, and scoring points by placing game pieces in designated areas. The competition is highly intense and requires a high level of teamwork, strategy, and technical skill.

Aside from the matches, the Orange County Regional also offers a range of activities, including workshops, exhibits, and networking opportunities for students, mentors, and industry professionals. The event is open to the public, and spectators are welcome to watch the matches and see the robots in action.

The FRC competition provides an exciting and rewarding experience for high school students interested in STEM fields who want to gain hands-on experience with robotics and engineering. It offers an opportunity to collaborate with peers, mentors, and industry professionals, and to develop valuable skills that will be useful in college and beyond.
