On the occasion of The Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary, Walt Disney World Resort is marking this significant milestone with the splendid unveiling of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. A beautifully landscaped walking trail filled with captivating surprises is now open for exploration by guests. This immersive experience allows visitors to engage with water in extraordinary ways, much like Moana’s interactions with the ocean. From simple greetings to high fives and even thrilling waves of fun, this lush and tropical pathway represents the first Disney Parks experience inspired by the beloved Walt Disney Animation Studios film, “Moana.”

The introduction of this new interactive attraction reflects the ongoing growth and investment at this vast vacation destination in Central Florida. As announced at Destination D23, a multitude of projects is currently in progress, and Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, is the latest addition to this exciting expansion. Debuting as part of the multi-year transformation of EPCOT, the attraction showcases Disney’s hallmark innovation and creativity, underscoring the company’s unwavering commitment to delivering immersive storytelling experiences.

In addition to experiencing this new attraction, guests will have the chance to meet Moana in a new section of World Nature, conveniently situated across from Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana. This offers an ideal spot for fans to capture cherished moments in photographs, share warm embraces, or even engage in insightful conversations about water conservation with the Wayfinder herself.

From the youngest adventurers to those young at heart, all members of the family can partake in this entertaining and interactive experience. They’ll discover creative ways to befriend, protect, and cherish the life-giving element of water. Similar to Moana’s ocean friend, the water here possesses its own playful personality, inviting guests to make music with “rain harps,” greet jumping streams, and even create a roaring ocean wave.

As guests follow the trail, they’ll encounter Te Fiti, the guardian of water throughout its journey in the water cycle. In addition, beloved characters like Heihei, Pua, and, of course, Moana, are skillfully depicted in the rock formations.

Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, joins a host of new experiences at EPCOT, such as Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Connections Café & Eatery, and more, all as part of the ongoing transformation of the park. Upcoming additions include the unveiling of a new Walt Disney statue named “Walt the Dreamer” at Dreamers Point and the World Celebration gardens, offering ample green spaces for relaxation and enjoyment.

The debut of Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana coincides with the 100-year anniversary of The Walt Disney Company on October 16. Throughout this centennial celebration, Disney will feature special activations, tie-ins, and moments that celebrate the unique legacy of the company over the past century. EPCOT is the epicenter of these festivities at Walt Disney World until December 31, 2023. Alongside the new attraction’s debut, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse will be dressed in their platinum-best attire to warmly greet guests at the Imagination! pavilion. Spaceship Earth will also light up each night with a vibrant display, accompanied by the Disney100 anthem. Additionally, there are four new Global Marketplaces featuring celebratory dishes and drinks.
