Netflix held the European premiere of Electric State last night in Madrid, bringing together its stars Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things, Damsel) and Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World), along with directors Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Endgame). Hundreds of fans gathered in Madrid’s Callao Square to catch a glimpse of the cast as the film prepares for its global release on Netflix on March 14, 2025.
In addition to the main cast, well-known figures such as directors Juan Antonio Bayona and Santiago Segura attended the event, along with popular content creators like Alba Paul, Diego Matamoros, Lucía de la Puerta, Nachter, Paula Gonu, and Natalia Osona. The event was hosted by Andrea Compton and Lalachus. Influencers from across Europe, including Jonathan Akamz, Karlotta Nila, Larissa Kimberly, and Evelyn Chen, were also present.
Earlier in the day, Brown, Pratt, and the Russo brothers spoke at a press conference with Spanish media. Brown shared her hope that Electric State would encourage people to think about their relationship with technology. Pratt, discussing how he prepared for his role, said, “I’m a child of the ’90s, so I was very excited to use my pop culture references in the project and create a bit of nostalgia for that era.”
Electric State is a sci-fi adventure set in a retro-futuristic version of the 1990s. The film follows Michelle, played by Brown, a teenage orphan navigating a world where sentient robots—once a normal part of human society—now live in exile after a failed rebellion.
Michelle’s understanding of the world changes completely when she meets Cosmo, a kind but mysterious robot controlled by her younger brother Christopher, whom she had believed to be dead. Determined to find him, she sets off on a journey across the American Southwest with Cosmo. Along the way, she teams up with Keats (Pratt), a smuggler, and his sarcastic robot sidekick, Herman (voiced by Anthony Mackie). Their adventure leads them to the Exclusion Zone, a walled-off desert where robots have built their own society. There, Michelle and Keats encounter a group of unusual robotic allies and begin to uncover the dark truth behind Christopher’s disappearance.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo (Avengers: Endgame), Electric State features a star-studded cast, including Ke Huy Quan (Everything Everywhere All at Once), Jason Alexander (Seinfeld), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Stanley Tucci (The King’s Man), and Woody Norman (C’mon C’mon). The film is based on the graphic novel by Simon Stålenhag, with a screenplay by Christopher Markus (Captain America: The Winter Soldier) and Stephen McFeely (Avengers: Doomsday).
