As the Mid-Autumn Festival approaches, The Peninsula Bangkok honors the cherished customs of reunion and gifting with a luxurious collection of handcrafted mooncakes. A seasonal signature for the city’s culinary connoisseurs, the hotel’s famed Egg Custard Mooncakes make their anticipated return, joined this year by inventive new flavors and a showstopping limited edition collector’s box illustrated by Thai artist Tachamapan Chanchamrassang, better known as Pomme Chan.
A legacy that began in 1986 at The Peninsula Hong Kong’s Michelin-starred Spring Moon lives on in Bangkok through the hotel’s Egg Custard Mooncakes. Prepared by The Peninsula’s expert pastry team, each mooncake is a study in balance: rich, velvety custard nestled within a delicate golden pastry shell. The intricate “Dragon Fish” motif, unique to Mei Jiang Restaurant, adds an auspicious flourish to every piece.
New for 2025, The Peninsula introduces three refined additions to its mooncake repertoire: Aromatic Osmanthus Tea, Smooth Lotus Seed, and Indulgent Durian. Crafted from premium ingredients and carefully developed for flavor harmony, each mooncake undergoes a meticulous process before being baked to perfection. Presented in sustainable, elegant packaging, the collection is offered in a classic octagonal box inspired by lotus blossoms and available in red or green and containing either eight Egg Custard Mooncakes or an assorted selection.
For collectors and design aficionados, The Peninsula Bangkok debuts its Moonlit Masquerade Collector’s Box, a limited edition set that seamlessly blends tradition with contemporary artistry. Created in collaboration with Pomme Chan, whose vibrant illustrations have graced campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Nike, and The New York Times, the box is a visual tribute to lunar folklore. Her whimsical tableau brings together mythical figures including the Jade Rabbit, Athena’s Owl, Kitsune Fox, Norse Moon Wolf, Moon Toad, and the Tiger, all gathering under a glowing full moon in a celestial masked revelry.
Only 150 individually numbered sets of the Moonlit Masquerade box are available. Each includes eight Egg Custard Mooncakes and an exclusive fine porcelain tea set adorned with gold detailing and echoing the box’s enchanting artwork. Presented with a certificate of authenticity and priced at THB 6,888 net, this collector’s edition is a sophisticated nod to both culture and creativity.
Whether served at family gatherings or offered as an elegant gift, The Peninsula’s mooncakes provide a meaningful way to celebrate the season. Preorders are now open, with pickup available from August 15 through October 6, 2025.
