For over a century, the art of coachbuilding has defined Bugatti’s identity. From Jean Bugatti’s timeless automotive silhouettes to the sculptural mastery of his brother Rembrandt, the marque has pursued a singular vision of beauty, innovation, and performance. This heritage now evolves with the debut of Programme Solitaire, a new ultra-exclusive commissioning program dedicated to creating one-of-a-kind automobiles that combine historical reverence with modern artistry.

The first creation, Brouillard, is a breathtaking coupé that pays tribute to Ettore Bugatti’s most beloved horse. A majestic white thoroughbred speckled like the morning mist, Brouillard embodied the qualities Ettore admired most: speed, elegance, and grace. Ettore’s affection was such that he devised a custom stable-door mechanism the horse could open himself. This deep personal connection inspired a car that celebrates the founder’s passion as much as his engineering genius.

Programme Solitaire recalls the golden age of early 20th century coachbuilding, when marques and specialist coachbuilders collaborated to create automotive art. Jean Bugatti transformed this tradition by bringing the craft in-house, producing icons such as the Type 57 SC Atlantic and a range of bespoke Type 57 body styles including the Galibier, Stelvio, Ventoux, and Atalante.

Brouillard represents the modern embodiment of this philosophy. It is built on the pinnacle of Bugatti engineering: the 1,600 PS quad-turbocharged W16 engine, the most advanced and refined version of the legendary powertrain. Its proportions are carefully composed according to principles of classical art, with the lower third rendered in darker tones to visually anchor the form and the upper two-thirds appearing lighter and more dynamic. This approach elongates the stance, creates the perception of a lower profile, and enhances the visual prominence of the wheels.

The aerodynamic design is fully integrated into the car’s sculpted bodywork. Functional air intakes channel cooling air through the radiators, a fixed ducktail wing maintains balance without disturbing the profile, and an advanced rear diffuser maximizes efficiency through innovative exhaust packaging. Every line serves both beauty and purpose.

Inside, Brouillard reaches new heights of personalization. Custom-woven Parisian fabrics with tartan patterns are paired with green-tinted carbon fiber and precision-machined aluminum. A sweeping glass roof creates an airy, cathedral-like ambience, its central spine flowing seamlessly from exterior to interior. Embroidered horse motifs adorn the door panels and seatbacks, while the seats themselves are molded to the owner’s exact specifications and finished in unique leather patchwork. The gear shifter, milled from a single block of aluminum, holds a glass insert containing a hand-crafted miniature of Brouillard the horse.

The commissioning client is a devoted Bugatti collector with a passion for the family’s artistry, from Carlo Bugatti’s furniture to Rembrandt Bugatti’s bronzes. Brouillard unites these influences into a single masterpiece that honors Ettore’s love for horses while pushing the boundaries of automotive couture.
