Atlantis Dubai has announced its very own Shark Week, scheduled to take place from Saturday, 24th June to Sunday, 2nd July. This event, which occurs just a couple of weeks before Discovery Channel’s renowned Shark Week, aims to provide guests with a head start in celebrating these magnificent creatures. The chosen theme for this year’s event is “Sharks of the UAE,” and The Lost Chambers Aquarium will be transformed into a captivating underwater world for shark enthusiasts. Visitors can expect a breathtaking array of entertaining and educational experiences.
The highlight of the event includes three scuba diving programs: Dive Discovery, Predator Dive, and Dive Explorer. These programs will take place in the Ambassador Lagoon, the largest open-air aquarium in the United Arab Emirates. Participants will embark on a shark-themed trail, swimming among various shark species. They will have the opportunity to discover mermaid purses (shark’s eggs) and may even be fortunate enough to find a shark tooth to take home as a souvenir. As a token of appreciation, every guest who takes part in these programs will receive a complimentary shark t-shirt.
This Shark Week at Atlantis Dubai offers an ideal opportunity to learn about the native shark species of the UAE and discover ways to contribute to their protection.
Ages 10 years old and above can participate in the various activities offered during Shark Week (24th June – 2nd July). The timings for each activity are as follows:
Dive Discovery (For Non-Certified guests):
- Daily at 10am, 2pm, 5:30pm, 7:30pm
Predator Dive (For Certified Divers only):
- Daily at 6:45pm
Dive Explorer (For Certified Divers only):
- Daily at 9am
The prices for these activities start from AED 1,050 and include an educational briefing, refreshments, dive certificate, shark ID card, and a shark t-shirt. Guests are required to bring their own swimwear.
Aquatrek Xtreme and Shark Safari are two more exciting activities available. Guests can wear a special shark-themed SeaTrek helmet and venture 10m down to the bottom of the Ambassador Lagoon (Aquatrek Xtreme) or explore Aquaventure’s Shark Lagoon (Shark Safari), where they will encounter various marine species, including sharks, rays, and colorful fish. The age requirements for these activities are 10 years old and above for Shark Safari and 12 years old and above for Aquatrek Xtreme. The timings are as follows:
Aquatrek Xtreme:
- Daily from 1pm and 4pm
Shark Safari (Includes Aquaventure admission):
- Daily from 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm
The prices for Aquatrek Xtreme and Shark Safari start from AED 430 and include an educational briefing, shark ID card, and a shark t-shirt. Guests are advised to bring their own swimwear.
For those who prefer snorkeling, Shark Snorkel and Ultimate Snorkel are excellent choices. Guests can wear a fun, foam shark fin and swim on the surface of The Shark Lagoon (Shark Snorkel) or the Ambassador Lagoon (Ultimate Snorkel). They will have the opportunity to observe stunning shark species, including those native to the UAE, such as Zebra Sharks, Whitetip Reef Sharks, and Arabian Carpetsharks, along with other marine life. The age requirement for these activities is 6 years old and above. The timings are as follows:
Shark Snorkel:
- Daily from 10:30am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 4:30pm
Ultimate Snorkel:
- Daily from 10:30am, 11:30am, 2pm, 3pm
The prices for Shark Snorkel and Ultimate Snorkel start from AED 335 and include an educational briefing. Guests should bring their own swimwear.
Shark Tales Tour offers guests an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at The Lost Chambers Aquarium, where they can learn about the care provided to the 65,000 marine animals in Atlantis Dubai. The tour showcases the various stages of shark breeding programs, including the newly hatched baby sharks in the nursery. Guests can also see real-life shark jaws and teeth and learn to identify different shark species within the Ambassador Lagoon. This activity is suitable for all ages, and the timings are as follows:
Shark Tales Tour:
- Daily from 11:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm, 4:30pm, 5:30pm, 6:30pm
The prices for the Shark Tales Tour start from AED 45.
Budding Shark Specialists aged 8-14 years old can participate in the Shark Specialist activity. They will visit the state-of-the-art Fish Hospital with Aquarists, where they will learn about different shark species and their care. Participants will have the opportunity to feed newly born sharks and rays, explore shark breeding programs, and discover what it takes to care for marine animals in The Lost Chambers Aquarium. The activity takes place at 1pm on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Prices start at AED 300 and include a certificate, complimentary photo, drawstring bag, and a reusable water bottle.
During Shark Week, The Lost Chambers Aquarium offers a range of complimentary in-aquarium activities for visitors to enjoy. These activities include:
- Shark Quest Trivia Challenge: From 10am to 9pm daily, guests can participate in a Shark Quest Trivia Challenge. They will follow a trail through the aquarium, answering questions alongside life-size shark cutouts. By entering, guests have the chance to win a shark-themed weekend stay at Atlantis, The Palm.
- Shark-Themed Aquatheatre: At 10:30am and 3:45pm daily, Atlantis scuba divers perform in the Shark-Themed Aquatheatre, providing an entertaining and educational experience.
- Shark Nursery Expert Talk: Expert talks about the Shark Nursery take place at 11am and 2pm daily, providing visitors with insights into the care and development of baby sharks.
- Underwater Shark Feeding: Guests can witness the underwater shark feeding at 2:30pm daily, where they will discover how the sharks and rays in the aquarium are fed.
- Shark Trivia Quiz: At 6:30pm daily, visitors can participate in the Shark Trivia Quiz to test their knowledge about sharks.
In addition to these activities, guests can also meet the friendly shark week mascot, who floats along The Avenues at Atlantis, The Palm, and The Lost Chambers Aquarium daily from 9:30am to 6pm.
Aquaventure Waterpark guests can join in the fun with a series of complimentary activities at Neptune Tower. These activities include the Baby Shark Dance at 3pm daily, Shark Toss at 4:30pm daily, Be A Shark Contest at 5:30pm daily, and Shark Photo Frenzy at 6:00pm daily.
