Thailand’s natural wonders, gastronomic experiences, rich cultures, and diverse heritage have been featured in many popular films and shows on Netflix. Viewers who watched Street Food: Asia and were inspired by Jay Fai’s crab omelet might be curious about where they can try it, while fans of Money Heist would have recognized the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya as the magnificent wooden structure in Season 3. To assist both domestic and foreign tourists in discovering these incredible locations, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP), and the Creative Economy Agency (CEA) have partnered with Netflix to create a unique travel guide for Thailand called “Uncover Thailand: A Creative Travel Guide.”

The guide is aligned with Thailand’s goal of revitalizing the economy through tourism, particularly by promoting soft power offerings such as food, film, and fashion. It includes recommendations for great experiences in the areas surrounding the destinations to enable travelers to make the most of Thailand’s many attractions. The TAT aims to draw tourists with special interests like film lovers or fans of specific actors by designing travel routes around destinations featured on Netflix and presenting them in a new light.

According to Ms. Parichart Boonclai, Executive Director of Advertising and Public Relations at TAT, “This travel guide will be helpful for tourists, both while planning their trips and during their journeys in the country. We also hope that the travel guide will be another channel for promoting Thai tourism, image, and culture on an even larger stage.”

The guide provides intriguing facts, useful travel advice, and exclusive behind-the-scenes content from Netflix, providing an opportunity for tourists and entertainment enthusiasts to discover new destinations away from the screen. “We recognize the exceptional beauty and value of Thai tourist attractions and culture, and we want to showcase this to members all around the world,” said Dr. Sarut Wittayarungruangsri, Head of Public Policy for Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, Netflix. “This guide is the first of its kind in Asia-Pacific, and we are delighted to support this effort by highlighting the joy of stories on Netflix and shining the spotlight on Thailand’s extraordinary charms and contributing to the revival of Thai tourism.”
