In January 2022, Pauline Plegat and Matthieu Joubin, partners at the architecture and interior design firm PLEGAT & JOUBIN, were commissioned to design and decorate Maison Bohème, a hotel residence located in the heart of Montmartre. The property’s owner, who also owns the nearby restaurant and cabaret La Bohème, entrusted them with this task.
After two years of intensive work, involving the complete restructuring and reimagining of the small, interconnected spaces, Maison Bohème is now open. Situated near the iconic Place du Tertre, this unique establishment, located above a brasserie, features nine exceptional apartments. Ranging from 25 to 120 square meters, each apartment is newly decorated and equipped with independent kitchens.
Pauline Plegat and Matthieu Joubin designed the space to reflect their client’s vision of a living tableau. They created a vibrant and colorful environment that combines bohemian spirit, romanticism, and subtle retro influences. The resulting atmosphere is both joyful and warm, evoking the feel of a Parisian atelier and an English cottage. Bold colors, warm textiles, and vintage pieces contribute to a sense of escapism, while custom fittings and high-quality materials ensure comfort.
The distinct Parisian and bohemian character of Montmartre is evident throughout. The breathtaking views of the Sacré-Cœur enhance the magical ambiance, making it a place of comfort and relaxation. Visitors often extend their stay, drawn by the residence’s inviting charm.
