VALO’s design philosophy is based on the Finnish aesthetic, high-quality details and feeling at home in a foreign place.  Though the atmosphere can differ dramatically between spaces, a harmonious whole is created. The main design themes are local, Nordic materials, nature and sustainability. Surface materials and furniture are largely made from locally sourced Nordic wood which has a very low carbon footprint. The design concept is offer new solutions for mobile work and lifestyles. Rather than having a hotel vacant during the day and an office empty at night and weekends, VALO combines the two utilities into one space.

At the core of this innovation is the room module which can be transformed from a hotel room to a workspace during routine room cleaning.  Flexible room fixtures, including the bed, desk and sofas, can be respectively slid aside, conveniently hidden and pulled out within minutes. Lighting and temperature can also be adjusted to fit the chosen room mode. Other furniture such as office chairs were thoughtfully designed to seamlessly blend into both uses. The result is a space that is visually neither a hotel nor an office, but something entirely new.

VALO hotel also offers holistic wellbeing with services that can be enjoyed during the workday and on your days off. This includes a wellness area with Finnish log saunas on the rooftop terrace, a well outfitted gym and restaurants serving organic, seasonal, local cuisine and sustainably sourced drinks.
