Today marks the launch of the Mondrian Cannes, the first Mondrian hotel in France, by Ennismore. The property is situated in a prime location, only 7 minutes away from the renowned Palais de Festival’s steps, and occupies the site of the original luxury hotel in Cannes, established in 1863. Moreover, the hotel offers a unique feature, being the only one on the Croisette with gardens that provide a peaceful oasis away from the busy boulevard and Rue d’Antibes and a stunning view of the sea.

Mondrian hotels are renowned for being at the heart of the world’s cultural events. The newly launched Mondrian Cannes is no exception, featuring architectural grandeur and public spaces brought to life by the Franco-Brazilian agency Triptyque. The lobby, restaurant, bar, and terraces are imbued with a natural vitality, which creates a dialogue between the hotel’s sophisticated interiors and the gardens leading down to the Croisette, utilizing a range of materials including wood, marble, leather, and plant fibers.

At Mondrian Cannes, art takes center stage, with a particular focus on the work of artist Mathilde de l’Écotais. Formerly an international correspondent, de l’Écotais turned to photography as a medium of expression and focused on nature as her subject. Her work interacts with the hotel’s architecture, feeding into the naturalist energy of the décor. She decorates the restaurant ceiling, livens up every public area, and adorns the flight of stairs with a unique theme, all contributing to the hotel’s vibrant artistic atmosphere.

The guest rooms at Mondrian Cannes feature Art Deco furniture and a color scheme inspired by the ocean. The classic French Riviera style is exhibited through the white, beige, and gray décor, with black accents, set against sand and blue carpet. The guest bathrooms also embrace the same style, with geometric lines and the use of marble, glass, and metal. The town-facing guest rooms are a spacious 430 square feet, while the sea-facing rooms and suites boast spectacular ocean views through wide French windows leading out to private terraces. The fresh and elegant décor incorporates the architecture’s geometrical lines with the carpet’s curves that undulate towards the sea.

On the 11th floor, the Panoramic Room provides an outdoor terrace with a whirlpool tub, a bathroom with a sea view, and stunning views of the entire Bay of Cannes. The adjacent Signature Suite boasts extra-high ceilings and a spectacular terrace accessible from both the bedroom and lounge, offering sweeping views across the Croisette.

Culinary enthusiasts will be drawn to Mr. Nakamoto’s restaurant at Mondrian Cannes, where London Chef Alex Craciun has created a menu that combines French and Japanese influences. The restaurant has cultivated a strong New York influence and ‘eccentricity,’ featuring desserts that are flambéed at guests’ tables while a Martini chariot rolls by to celebrate the great American Martini. In addition to emphasizing seafood and the local catch of the day, Mr. Nakamoto offers spectacular seafood platters, delicious salads, exceptional meat dishes, yakitori, and sushi at the bar. Chef Hervé Busson, who previously served as second-in-command to Sébastien Broda at Park 45, expertly puts everything together.

Hyde Beach Cannes, located next to Mondrian Cannes, celebrates the Mediterranean and southern art de vivre with unique flavors and an undeniably elegant atmosphere. The azure backdrop and fine white sand provide a palette of sun-drenched colors that complement the olive and palm trees. Chef Gabriele Faiella, who trained with Gordon Ramsay, brings a taste of Italy to diners by combining fresh produce with perfectly attentive service. Hyde Beach Cannes offers a mouthwatering array of cocktails and signature beverages, and the atmosphere is casual during the day and livelier in the evening.
