A Night to Remember: 2023 Red Dot Design Awards Gala Recap

On November 3, 2023, the Red Dot Design Award recognized international designers and agencies at the Red Dot Gala. The winners of the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design were celebrated at the festive event, attended by guests from approximately 30 nations.

Special moments of the evening included the announcement of the Red Dot: Grand Prix winners and the revelation of the Agency of the Year. The awarding of the Red Dot: Junior Prize also remained a surprise until the very end.

The host for the evening was Professor Dr. Peter Zec, the CEO and founder of Red Dot, along with Red Dot jurors Kelley Cheng, Thilo von Debschitz, and Alison Park Douglas. They presented the Red Dot trophies to the recipients of the highest awards, reflecting on the joy of celebrating innovative brand and communication design with an international audience.

The highest individual award, the Red Dot: Grand Prix, was bestowed six times. The winners in various categories included:

Marie-Luise Charlotte Weier was awarded the Red Dot: Junior Prize, a highly coveted award in the world of design. Her project “PYRY,” a frozen book capturing a photographic journey to the Arctic Circle, left a profound impression on the jury. The trophy was presented by Red Dot Vice President Jana Zec.

The Red Dot: Agency of the Year 2023 was awarded to CLEVER°FRANKE, a moment highlighted by the presentation of the “Stylus” trophy by Daniel Leyser, Global CEO of MetaDesign, to Thomas Clever and Gert Franke. The agency, known for its expertise in translating complex data sets, was recognized for its significant economic impact and influence on society in the field of data visualization.
