Spring has arrived at The Savoy, and London’s most legendary hotel is marking the season with a lineup of limited edition indulgences worth planning a trip around. From handcrafted Easter eggs to floral afternoon teas, the hotel’s springtime offerings span everything from a dedicated scone shop to a new online storefront, the Savoy Shop, where the hotel’s seasonal creations are available for delivery or collection.
At Scoff, The Savoy’s beloved scone shop, the Hot Cross Bun scone makes its eagerly anticipated return from 23 March through Easter Sunday. The creation, conceived by Executive Pastry Chef Nicolas Houchet, builds on the classic seasonal treat with a spiced scone base studded with raisins and candied orange, a bright orange and mandarin compote centre, Tahitian vanilla Chantilly cream and a chocolate cross on top. At £8.50, it is one of the more delicious ways to spend a spring afternoon. Scones are available daily from 12.04 pm, with pre-orders open through The Savoy Shop.
Houchet’s Easter Egg, available from 25 March, is equally considered. A Dominican Republic dark-milk chocolate shell gives way to a hazelnut, almond and vanilla crunch praline within, the whole thing available exclusively via online pre-order for collection at Scoff, priced at £65. Families visiting over the Easter Weekend can also take part in an egg hunt on Easter Sunday, with chocolate treats tucked into the hotel’s famously grand interiors.
New Season, New Menus
The arrival of spring means a new Afternoon Tea menu at Gallery, the hotel’s signature dining room, where the kitchen has long drawn inspiration from the history of dining at The Savoy. This season’s menu leans into the best of British produce, with sandwiches ranging from coronation chicken to St Ewe egg mayonnaise, and savoury bites that include a green pea, bacon and onion marmalade tartlet alongside an asparagus, London pesto and Thames honey cream savoury cake. Priced from £90 per person, it is a thoroughly satisfying way to spend a spring afternoon. For those who prefer their tea after dark, the Twilight Tea menu runs from 5.30 to 9.30 pm from £49 per person, with a Nyetimber cocktail on arrival setting a suitably festive tone.
Mother’s Day calls for something extra, and Gallery delivers with a special High Tea menu that can be elevated with a lobster and caviar tasting alongside a Velvet Scone rum-based cocktail, available as a supplement at £35 per person. Guests also take home a seed-growing kit, a thoughtful nod to the season and the occasion.
Rounding out the hotel’s spring edit, Creative Floral Design Manager Belinda Bowles has put together a collection of seasonal bouquets that feel like spring itself, distilled. Tulips, scented freesia and roses in soft pastel palettes are balanced by seasonal foliage, making them as fitting for a Mother’s Day gift as for brightening a living room shelf. Bouquets are available from £70, through The Savoy Shop or directly from The Florist at The Savoy.
