As Thailand’s entertainment industry accelerates and its creative talent commands growing global attention, Netflix is scaling up its investment in Thai storytelling with its most expansive lineup to date. The 2026 slate comprises three original series, four feature films, and the platform’s first Thai documentary feature, marking a significant new chapter for local content.

The move comes amid a clear shift in audience behavior. In the past year, more than 90 percent of Netflix members in Thailand watched Thai titles, highlighting the strong domestic appetite for homegrown stories. That local enthusiasm has increasingly translated into international success. To date, 33 Thai titles have appeared in Netflix’s Global Top 10, including 17 Netflix originals from Thailand. Films and series such as Hunger, Master of the House, and the breakout hit Mad Unicorn have helped Thai content generate more than 750 million viewing hours worldwide, demonstrating that when Thai audiences champion a story, global viewers often follow.

In 2026, Netflix Thailand introduces a new brand positioning under the banner ดูไทยหนำใจที่ Netflix, which translates to enjoying Thai content to one’s heart’s content on Netflix. The initiative underscores the platform’s ambition to become the primary destination for Thai entertainment, offering a wide spectrum of original productions and licensed titles to audiences both domestically and internationally.

Malobika Banerji, Senior Director of Content for Southeast Asia at Netflix, emphasizes that the goal is to make Netflix the place where viewers can immerse themselves in stories they love, revisiting familiar favorites while discovering world class originals created by Thai talent.

As the accused became an unexpected public figure, the case transformed into a cultural phenomenon.

Directed by Nontawat Numbenchapol and co produced by Beach House Pictures and Thai Film Works, the film interrogates how criminal investigations can morph into public entertainment and explores the societal forces that drive such transformations.

Strengthening Licensed Content and Lakorn Programming

Beyond original productions, Netflix will expand its licensed Thai catalog, offering more than 600 hours of box office hits, popular local dramas, and unscripted favorites. Titles include Death Whisperer 3, Girl From Nowhere: The Reset, and The Seven Legends. The platform is also deepening its focus on lakorn, hosting its largest selection yet across prime time and evening series.

Banerji notes that expanding licensed programming not only serves viewers but also supports the broader Thai industry. By collaborating with more studios and rights holders, Netflix enables established shows to reach wider audiences while reinforcing the domestic production ecosystem.

Investing in Thailand’s Creative Future

Netflix’s commitment to Thailand extends beyond commissioning content. Between 2021 and 2024, the company invested 200 million dollars in local productions and employed more than 13,500 cast and crew across the country.

The Bangkok based team works closely with directors, writers, studios, and production partners throughout development and production, strengthening technical capabilities and on set craftsmanship. Initiatives such as Reel Life Camp and other workshops have trained more than 200 aspiring creators and 500 production professionals, expanding opportunities particularly for below the line talent.

Through partnerships with organizations such as the Creative Economy Agency, Netflix aims to contribute not only to compelling on screen storytelling but also to the sustainable growth of Thailand’s creative economy.

As Thai audiences embrace broader genres and fresh perspectives, creators are responding with bolder and more inventive ideas. Netflix’s 2026 slate signals confidence in that evolution and a continued commitment to giving Thai stories both a strong home platform and a global runway.
