Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem, the next mainline entry in the storied survival horror franchise, will launch on February 27, 2026, across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. This marks the first time the series’ latest chapter will arrive on all major platforms simultaneously, signaling a major step in Capcom’s multi-platform push. Alongside the new title, Resident Evil 7 biohazard and Resident Evil Village will also debut on Nintendo’s next-gen hardware the same day, giving Switch 2 owners a triple dose of bio-terror.
The Road to Requiem: A Quick History of Resident Evil
Since its debut in 1996, Resident Evil has defined and redefined the survival horror genre. The original PlayStation classic introduced claustrophobic mansion exploration and resource-starved tension. Resident Evil 2 and 3 expanded the nightmare to Raccoon City, while Resident Evil 4 revolutionized action-horror with its over-the-shoulder camera and relentless pacing. Resident Evil 5 and 6 leaned further into co-op and blockbuster spectacle, before Resident Evil 7 biohazard steered the series back to its horror roots with a haunting first-person perspective. Resident Evil Village continued that formula, blending gothic horror with inventive action.
Requiem now looks set to honor that legacy, combining the atmospheric dread that fans crave with the modern polish the RE ENGINE has delivered across multiple acclaimed entries.
A New Chapter in Survival Horror
Resident Evil Requiem serves as the ninth main installment in Capcom’s iconic series. Built on the powerful RE ENGINE, the game promises cutting-edge visuals and deeply immersive survival horror gameplay. Even before release, Requiem has earned buzz: at Gamescom 2025, Europe’s largest gaming trade show, it swept four categories at the Gamescom Awards, underlining the hype surrounding its chilling world and tense mechanics.
