Alchemy of Souls star Lee Jae-wook and Destined with You‘s Cho Bo-ah team up in the highly anticipated Korean period mystery romance Dear Hongrang, set to premiere May 16 on Netflix.
The newly released teaser trailer sets the stage with the mysterious disappearance of a young boy named Hongrang. Twelve years later, Hongrang (played by Lee Jae-wook) reappears at the powerful Sim merchant household—but with no recollection of who he once was. His return sparks suspicion from his half-sister Jae-yi (Cho Bo-ah), who firmly believes he is an imposter and not the brother she lost years ago. As tensions rise, Hongrang challenges her to uncover the truth behind his identity, deepening the intrigue and emotional stakes.
Joining the ensemble cast is Jung Ga-ram (Love Alarm) as Mu-jin, the adopted son who took Hongrang’s place in the household after his disappearance. Uhm Ji-won (Little Women) plays Min Yeon-ui, Hongrang’s mother and the formidable leader of the Min Family’s Guild. Park Byung-eun (The Bequeathed, Kingdom: Ashin of the North) appears as Sim Yeol-guk, the Chief Merchant and father to both Hongrang and Jae-yi. Rounding out the cast is Kim Jae-uck (Melo Movie) as Grand Prince Hanpyeong, a royal figure with a refined artistic soul and impeccable taste.
With its rich Joseon-era setting, layered characters, and an unfolding mystery that blurs the line between truth and deception, Dear Hongrang is poised to captivate fans of historical drama, romance, and suspense.
Your hidden secrets, your unspoken truth. Dear Hongrang premieres May 16, only on Netflix.
