Once infamous for its chaotic maze of alleyways and crumbling concrete towers, Kowloon Walled City continues to capture the imagination of filmmakers, historians, and curious travelers. Now, that legendary spirit is being brought vividly back to life with “Kowloon Walled City: A Cinematic Journey,” an ambitious movie set exhibition launched on May 23, 2025, right on the original site of the Walled City.
Touted as Hong Kong’s largest-ever movie set exhibition, this immersive experience recreates gritty scenes from Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In, the 2024 action blockbuster inspired by the city’s shadowy past. For the next three years, visitors can step straight into 1980s Kowloon through full-scale reconstructions of narrow streets and shopfronts, including a tailor shop, bone-setting clinic, barber, and fish ball factory.
But the cinematic adventure is just the beginning. Kowloon City is one of Hong Kong’s most culturally rich neighborhoods, packed with history, heritage, and serious flavor.
